Unfortunately, there is no official site yet. I suppose it might start being operational at the summer time. Thanks for being interested in

Kaunas most likely to host Eurobasket 2011 finals

The FIBA Europe Genral Secretary Nar Zanolin mentioned the venue for the Eurobasket 2011 finals publically for the first time. Kaunas is the first option as the arena that is being built there at the moment will have the biggest capacity of all the venues and will be able to house up to 14 500 spectators.

The only condition that Mr.Zanolin has set is the time of completion. If the arena isn't finished by the end of 2010, the final matches of the tournament will take place in Vilnius instead.

The FIBA Europe General Secretary is aware of the problems that the organizers are facing. The funding from the European Union funds weren't transferred on schedule, but they've already reached Vilnius. Mr.Zanolin joked, that the 100 kilometers that separate Vilnius and Kaunas isn't much of a distance and hopes for smoother development of events.

The Lithuanian Basketball Federation (LKF) President Vladas Garastas wasn't as open as his counterpart.

"We have to finish the arena first. In 2005 we signed a contract for organizing Eurobasket 2011, but what do we have after this period? Only arenas in Vilnius, Siauliai and Panevezys are built. There are still three venues remaining, so we'll have to do half of the work in one and half years," said Garastas.

That would be great. Major sports event combined with fantastic holidays. Does Croatia plan to place its bid? French and Italian bid for this one look very strong.

it must be Euro, because world cup 2014 will be in Spain. But I think Greece can host Euro 2015. Because I think New Arenas of Olympiacos and Panathinakos will be complated , at least I guess so. And Greece will host a new tournement with new aenas instead of the current sport halls that already held many organizations.
