Your city in 10 of YOUR OWN photos

I'm so tired of googled or Flickr'ed pictures - so I thought I'd make a thread where people post a couple of their OWN photos of their OWN city with a link to where one can find more of them - basicly like a teaser for your city-photo thread

The rules are simple, 1 to 10 of your OWN photos of your own city in a not too large or too small resolution - preferable with a link or two to where one can find more

And feel very free to add a little info on what the photos show

I might as well start with my own city: Copenhagen

An overview over the downtown area

An overview towards the island of Amager with the bridge to Sweden in the horizon

Amagertorv - one of the city's oldest squares

Strøget pedestrian street - the largest in Europe

Christiansborg Castle - home of the Parliament - seen from the old town

The canals of Copenhagen

Nyhavn - an old redlight district turned into a beer garden paradise ( they serve food too if you are into that stuff )

Vikings looking over the border to the old town ( City Hall Square on the left )

"Old Kings Road" running trough the district of Frederiksberg

"Vesterbrogade" twisting trough the city

You like threads with rules, don't you?

Like the idea, though.

Thanks for sharing mate

Is there a story behind how the Stephansdom got it's roof? - it's very unique

If it means not having to browse trough a ton of random "stolen" pictures to find the good ones by fellow members then yes

If I wanted to see Flickr or Google pics I'd go there - here on SSC I like to see fellow member's work

By adding a few rules my hope is that, like in the Travel Overview thread, we get photos from invested members who take the time and effort to show their cities and photos - not copy-paste a bunch of random urls..

10 pictures for Paris, it is not enouth, so I selected pictures of districts where me and Parisian often go.
I will present a more Parisian and less touristy Paris.

Les Halles
The heart of Paris. a big underground commercial center and a subway station used by 800,000 user by day.

Rue de Rivoli, Les Halles area.

Boulevard de la Chapelle, Barbes.
A cheap commercial area with a vibrant afro-north african community

The most famous avenue in Paris and maybe in the world.

Rue du Faubourg du Temple, Belleville
Working class commercial district.

Yeah I know 10 isn't much, but I had to set some limit so we wouldn't be drowned in pics..

That's where the links come is so people can see where to find more if interested

Helsinki (deleted most of my pics yesterday when I cleaned my hard drive)

Alexanterinkatu ("Alexander Street") a major shopping street.

Yrjönkatu in the city centre.

Liisankatu in the Kruununhaka district.

Helsinginkatu in Kallio, a bohemic area and also a nightlife hot spot.

Pohjois-Esplanadi, a commercial street in the city centre.

Esplanadi Park, a small park which separates Pohjois-Esplanadi from Etelä-Esplanadi

One of the oldest streets in Helsinki situated in the "old town" area. Called Sofiankatu. The only remaining partly gas lit street left in the city.

Vallila area in the inner suburbs.

Hämeentie in Sörnäinen.

Downtown Orlando is looking better that I expected. Unfortunately it breaks my heart that America can build a great fake city that almost looks European. Paris, Madrid, Vienna, Copenhagen are just fabulous. Those cities are much smarter than most of the world. Orlando's downtown should have been Main Street USA a real place, with people, and no admission.

Helsinki has a lot of atmosphere.

I still holde a grudge against Jakarta because of the terrorist attack against Australians, it seems like a dicey place.

America will pay big to go to Disney Main Street while they let their own hometown's main street rot away with the emergence of another WalMart. Our culture is backwards.

Vancouver, Canada, all from this year:

View of downtown from the highest point in the city

Shangri-La Hotel, the tallest building, not quite finished

Near Robson Square, the Art Gallery, Hotel Vancouver and copycat, and a rendering of a new tower on the right

30's and 70's, what a difference

The colosseum-like library

The new seawall in front of the Olympic village

Typical condos on False Creek North

Coal harbour view of downtown

Some of the older typical downtown buildings

Hidden within the skyline, are gems like this

Originals plus more here

An amazing thread. I guess I really should take more photos of Auckland now that Sydney has left the boards.
