As this is a public forum I'd appreciate it if you could post videos available to the public. all the videos posted above are marked private and will not play.

The videos used to be public, I don't know why they're private all of a sudden. Let me know if these don't work.

I don't know, I guess having lived here for quite a while, you get over it. The beach isn't fun anymore, nor are the theme parks. This project is moving at a snails pace and I just don't see myself living here much longer than need be.

They're still preparing to start construction. Parking out front of the old hospital has been blocked off, and the road totally changed for the time being. Some streets are now only one-way until completed.

Gold Coast will be the first city in Australia, which is opening a completely new tram system. Adelaide & Melbourne's tram are century old, & Sydney has returned after closing in sixties.

Here's one of the new trains that QR has got, now servicing Greater Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. What do you think of them?

Vandals certainly hit the QR system hard during the floods...

That photo was taken more than a week after the floods. It's just an "everyday" shot of a train arriving into Nambour.

Yeah, and everyone surfs the trains in Melbourne because they're all bogans and can't afford tickets. Melbourne = the new Mumbai?

L2 who isn't stupid?

Yes. Since Brisbane and the Gold Coast merged their authorities to become one super-city in 2008 (in theory more than reality - LOL!!! ), they've got about 30 bus routes overall that will become tram services by 2020. Interesting prospect.

You post a Nambour bound train in the Gold Coast Public Transport thread in an attempt to be, I don't know, funny?

And why would I go to Nerang? When you buy ounces, dealers generally drop off, buddy.

Yeah, because the same type of train runs many trips a day to Varsity Lakes.

(As usual, L2 is being Captain Obvious to the Rescue again! )

The trams will also look like this with overall advertising for "Queensland, the intellectual state".

GoldLinQ win Rapid Transit bid

Quote:
CONSTRUCTION of the Gold Coast Rapid Transit system will begin in earnest later this year with the long-awaited appointment of a consortium to construct and operate the $1 billion service from the new University Hospital to Broadbeach.

Premier Anna Bligh will this morning announce GoldLinQ, which includes companies Keolis, Downer EDI, McConnell Dowell, Bombardier and Plenary, is the successful bidder for the first public passenger transport project to be delivered through a public-private partnership.

Ms Bligh said each of the companies in the consortium, chosen from a short list of three, had a proven track record of transport construction within Australia and overseas.

Surfboards allowed on Coast light rail

Quote:
IN an Australian first surfboard racks have been specially designed to cater to Gold Coast surfers wanting to ride the city's new Rapid Transit system.

Premier Anna Bligh told the Bulletin exclusively yesterday that a group of Gold Coast locals who are part of GoldLinQ, the new company announced to build and run the system had felt the rare design was needed to cater to the city's large surfing culture.

The news has been given the ultimate tick of approval by the surfing industry, who believe it will attract more people to our beaches and relieve parking congestion.

Premier Bligh also revealed yesterday that the 13km ride, from Griffth University to Broadbeach, would cost $3.11.

Travelling one zone, approximately half the system's line, will be $2.65.

The light rail will open in 2014 and construction will create more than 6300 jobs.
