maybe is world's first artificial (manmade) inner city harbour???

Nope, it can't be that either. Britain (and I bet lots of other places) are jam packed full of 'inner city harbours' that form part of the Victorian man made canal systems. Here is part of the Canal Basin in my own city - we are about a hundred miles from the coast and it was built 190 years ago when Dubai was nothing more than desert.

Dubai does some amazing things but it doesn't do itself any credit with these silly claims.

I think it may be a mistranslation, possibly "Dubai's first inner city harbour", or the UAEs.... or maybe it was supposed to say nakheels first, or the first harbour inside a supertall building... I wouldn't take one mistranslated article so seriously.

They are building-it for the ego, not for economic reasons. If someone would make a profit by building a tower with 200 stories anywhere in the world, belive me they would build-it.

Is not like the reason that Dubai is (and will) building the highest tower is briliant UAE arhitects and engineers (most of them are foreigners), but because they can aford-it (even if maybe they won't make profit).

The tallest would be the 360 meters Almas Tower, developed by a siter organisation within the parent state owned company (Dubai World). However Nakheel is developeing The Palms and The World, among others.

Just a thought, in like 20 years the view of Dubai from the top of Nakheel Tower will be this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QW9gL9Bs_ko + 50 floors. Mind blowing isn't it?

This is the best supertall proposal I've seen since the Burj, judging by it's awesome design and monolithic height. I like the looks of this, ALOT!

Dont forget about the few floors close to the top, probablyabove the 1000 meter mark. I think the 155the floor on the Burj is around 600 meters so this view will be the equivalent of another 100 floors!

Is Dubai just going insane?

A round of applause for Nakheel.

And may I ask. Is Nakheel the largest or one of the largest developers in Dubai?

Please. Nakheel. Transform Manila! Wah!

According to some articles Nakheel is planning around 20-40 supertalls around the Nakheel tower.
