Pilling means U/C not prep, because it is part of the tower itself

We knew it officially since the begining of the year the French were awarded the ground work package, and at the same time their machineries first appeared on the site which confirmed to us back then the exact location after we had been hearing for months speculations from different sources that it had moved there from the Waterfront.

But you do noticed that we are talking about piles, not the soletanche activity on site in general? The fact that soletanchy is on site and "do something" I know for long time actually. cheers

Not neccessarily. You can do the piling and then dig the hole, or you can dig the hole and then do the piling ... or you can do both at the same time.

Anyway they have not started digging the hole yet.

Well, more sad news! The Russia Tower is also stopped and canceled. :<

But I think the Tall Tower should have support from Abu Dhahi.

I would make this tread U/C in lets say a year because the whole work on this tower will take at least 7-8 years so what is the rush ?

What argument is that? If construction of it would take 100 years you would change the status to u/c after 10 years of beginning of construction of fundations? Please...

The design is not final !!! I'm praying for this tower for 3 years now and I still believe it will soar 1,4 km tall I hope this one would make me happy because towers on the planet are too small for my liking .. Thanks

May I suggest switching the planet then. Corusant will be the best place for you Since we are in the outer rim of the galaxy the trip to its center would take a couple of million light years, but I could put you in touch with a good friend of mine, he is a captain, they call him Picard he can help you.

As for the design, I don't think they'll make any significant change in the way the tower looks. The only area we could see a change might be its height.

Nakheel scales back projects, announces job cuts
By Saifur Rahman, Business Editor
Published: November 30, 2008, 13:57

Dubai: Dubai’s real estate master developer, Nakheel, on Sunday said it has made 500 people (15 per cent of its global workforce) redundant while scaling back projects, as the market slump bites into Dubai's fast-growing real estate market.

"Dubai’s master developer, Nakheel, announced on Sunday 30 November 2008 that it was scaling back work on some of its projects and that it has adjusted it staffing requirements accordingly to accommodate the current easing market conditions," a Nakheel statement said.

Nakheel spokesperson described the decision as a responsible action in light of the current global market conditions.

“We have the responsibility to adjust our short term business plans to accommodate the current global environment. The redundancies are indeed regrettable, but a necessity dictated by operational requirements which are in turn dependent on demand,” added the spokesperson.

This is the second biggest confirmed job cut in the UAE so far, and comes after two developers, Damac and Omniyat confirmed a total of 269 - 200 by Damac and 69 by Omniyat.

All the affected employees were provided a redundancy package, which includes outplacement support services to assist in this time of transition.

All other major developers have earlier said they are revising headcount downwards, as business activities in Dubai's real estate has come close to a near halt.

Analysts say this is the beginning of a massive job cut across the real estate market.

"This is not the end, but the beginning and we do not know when it will end," said property analyst Sudhir Kumar, managing director of Realtors' International.

"In a situation like this, when lack of funds cut short economic activities, companies have to tighten their belts.

"We anticipate others will follow suit in announcing more job cuts."

Hmm, thanks for the link. The Dubai bubble might have burst already. Better now than later, so they'll have to consider more sensible future investment.
