Yeah, poor Dubai has collapsed right when the rest of the World was witnessing the most prosperous and bright financial times in the history of the mankind.

Just stop talking that Dubai is (economically) on another planet and it will be fine.

let's hope everything will move in the right direction again soon, but i think it'll take at least 1-2 years. the financial crisis won't wind up that easy

No, it starts allready. You can read about it in official constructor statment right here:
http://www.bachy-soletanche.com/SBF/...hlight=nakheel

And also here you can read that nakheel is not going to delay TT:
http://www.arabianbusiness.com/53975...not-be-delayed

And that in my opinion may be drilling machine for fundation (btw Imre, have you seen drilling machins on site?):

But you can't know it from thread title becouse it seems there is no moderator to change it

Dubai Developer Nakheel Shedding 500 Employees
November 30, 2008 21:27 PM
By Muin Abdul Majid

DUBAI, Nov 30 (Bernama) -- Dubai's master developer, Nakheel, announced Sunday that it was scaling back work on some of its projects and adjusting its staffing requirements accordingly to accommodate the current easing market conditions.

Approximately 15 per cent of the total workforce, which amounts to 500 employees, was made redundant, said a company spokesman, describing the decision as a responsible action in light of the current global market conditions.

"The redundancies are indeed regrettable but a necessity dictated by operational requirements which are in turn dependent on demand.

"We have the responsibility to adjust our short term business plans to accommodate the current global environment," the spokesperson said in a statement.

Nakheel's Dubai portfolio includes the Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali, Palm Deira, The World, Waterfront, The Universe, Nakheel Harbour & Tower, Jumeirah Islands, The Gardens, Ibn Battuta Mall, International City and Dragon Mart.

Nakheel's projects are conservatively estimated to be worth US$80 billion.

Well, other articles around the net do mention a delay (but not canceled).
I feel, Nakheel is just being careful as it moves forward on its projects. This is normal. Rather than a delay, my guess a temporary "SLOW DOWN" for a year or so. Once the economic global crisis has stabilized, you will see the projects pace up again.

Anyway, I think they are just being smart on how to progress on their bigger projects.

Mega projects likely to face some delays
By Suzanne Fenton, Staff Reporter
Published: December 01, 2008, 00:34

Dubai: Parts of the Dh350 billion Jumeirah Garden City, the Trump International Hotel and Tower on Palm Jumeirah and Nakheel's kilometre-tall tower are just three of Dubai's mega-developments that are delayed.

With Dubai's real estate sector undergoing a fundamental rationalisation and companies reviewing their projects, now is seemingly not the time for developers to be splashing their cash as many mega-developments are under review.

On hold

"The master plan (of Jumeirah Garden City) is being revisited and pockets of the development are delayed," a Meraas spokesperson told Gulf News.

Nakheel yesterday said that parts of Palm Jumeirah are delayed, including Frond N villas, Gateway Towers and Trump International Hotel and Tower. The kilometre-high tower is also on hold.

With liquidity decreasing and financing low, such projects are taking the brunt of the financial turmoil.

Too bad but reality.

That article is first I see that said straight that this one is on hold. Sad but true. So dubai isn't so "crisisproof" as some says.
