Guys, Nakheel have publically said its only hold for a year, so any messing aorund in the ground is mearly prep work and cannot constitute U/C status.

All major nakheel works (2 last fronts on Palm, waterfrom, badra, trumptower etc etc ) have been suspended indeffinatly

It makes no sense to destroy the offices if the building is going to be built in the future. Just leave them there until work resumed. And having to move them to allow construction would mean the contractor (Nakheel) has no idea what the h__l he is doing! I'm afraid this may be a sign that the project not only is delayed by these cancelled.

And the negative speculation continues....

When buildings go on hold or get cancelled, the site looks like the Chicago Spire site. Everyone disappears and all the equipment goes with them. Why would they keep prepping the site if it's on hold?

beacuse the SECANT wall is complete and they have to dewater or it fills up . there are no piles in the ground but mearly a big hole with SECANT wall, simmilar to Chicago Spire.
This project is on hold INDEFFINATLY

All other sources say one year [and none of them have come from Nakheel]...where's your source?

I agree with Imri and ZZ-II that this is part of the planned development of this site.
Those offices look like standard temporary site buildings and surely if the site was going to be left for a year then continued they would leave the offices there. Removing them now then putting new ones up in a year would be an un-needed expense.

Personally I would say as long as there are men on site working then the project is still going ahead, maybe if the recession had not happened it would be going faster e.g Nakheel would have more men on site but I feel at worst this is mearly a slow down to reduce cost per month until things improve (financially) rather than a complete cancellation for 12 or more months.

I would like to see the Nakheel Harbour Tower built as much as anyone. However, construction companies, including Nakheel, are slowing down their construction projects to save cash. Let's just assume this project is in hibernation for now because that is the conclusion that makes the most sense without an official statement from Nakheel.

Nakheel already said that any additional work on site has been suspended for 1 year. I have seen that all the machineries of the French contractor have left the site.

Give it a rest people: The retaining wall is done, if all goes well after 1 year they will start with piling. The excavation there (that might even be outside of the site) is irrelevant.

The tower is ON HOLD

I was left under the impression that pilling has not only begun but it is already complete. Wasn’t that fact made public a few days after they officially announced the project? Wasn’t that the sole reason why this topic received a U/C status?

No piling has ever commenced on site, only the site perimeter/retaining wall, which seams to be complete.

I thought the towers’ 400 barrettes* were dug out. *The form of pile used to make the foundation. What am I missing here? Aren’t the barrettes the piles for the foundation. Or the piles go into the barrettes.

I think I will need a clarification.

They were talking about what they had to do not what they did already.
