Thank you so much! I'm glad your pictures also showed the pretty side of Berlin. In most other galleries they just present the not so pretty/rundown areas of Berlin.

Thanks guys

Yeah I think East Berlin is really the best part of town. Of course I vivted only the central areas of the city but I have to say West Berlin (with the memorial church etc) is a pretty dull place. Potsdamer Platz is gorgeous though.

Yes...you're right. The area around the Breitscheidplatz is really not the best part of Berlin. But the Kurfürstendamm and Charlottenburg (which are also in West-Berlin) have some really nice buildings too.

Cool pictures btw!

I agree Dr. Seltsam. West Berlin definitely still has its areas of charm and is still well worth exploring even if the east is now more "hip" and "trendy".

Excellent shots though, SP, you've done a fantastic job with all of these European cities! You must have enjoyed your holiday.

I'm so excited to soon be visiting Berlin for the 2nd time. It's unfortunate IMO that Frankfurt is Germany's air hub. I suppose Air Berlin has been doing a good job bringing in the people directly into Berlin from other European cities but those from outside Europe don't have many direct flights (options) into Berlin like you do to London, Paris or even Madrid or Rome. I know Frankfurt has nearby several German cities of interest to visit but between Berlin and Frankfurt isn't Berlin the obviously more interesting one?

Lots of it are. Berlin rose to prominance much later than many other German cities. You can primarily thank Fredrick the Great for its rise.

Right, I think that's the reason user wwwdbwww thought it lookes so new.

And Berlin is pretty old too. Yes, of course not as old as Rome, London or Paris. The city of Berlin was first mentioned in documents in the year 1244.
Two churches in Berlin date back to this time.

I agree that Berlin is more interesting than Frankfurt. The thing is that Frankfurt is the financial capital of Germany. It is also considered 2nd most important financial center in Europe.
