the really messed up thing is he could have black kids. i remember reading about a girl born in apartheid to white parents who was black. they traced back 7 generations before finding a black relative and that gene just happened to pop up! her parents went through a huge legal battle to have their daughter classified white even though she looked african, the attitude of the state was "it's not your child!". despite them winning and her having middle class white parents, she ended up married to some poor black guy and living in a metal shack in a shanty town anyway. her close family aside, people couldn't see past her skin colour and realise she was white so all the legal rights in the world couldn't change how others saw her.

To illustrate my earlier point, this is my mate Ivan... Both his parents look 100% White (he has some Black on his Dad's side, but a long way back)

Can he call himself 'Black' even though he might only be 1/32 or 1/64 Black?

That's sad...after all the whole "racist" thing is all about appearance not genes...

She just happened to be the unlucky one...

Not really its just that the whole world is glad that the USA has disposed of a complete and utter idiot (Bush). What Obama achieves remains to be seen and will be what he is judged on.

I doubt it. Looks like it will be the biggest security operation.....ever. However should the worst happen I think it will tear America apart. Doesn't even bear thinking about.

I'll be watching. I remember worrying about anything bad happening when I was watching George Bush's inauguration and that was before September 11th and everything else since! But I'm sure the security tomorrow will be some of the best in the world.

This will be an interesting social experiment. Both starting from exactly the same point in life and presumably going to get the same upbringing and eduction.

I wonder which one will go the furtherst in life?

My wife, one of her sisters and both of her brothers have got vitiligo (an inherited condition where patches of skin have no pigment) they are very fair skinned but if they get a tan their legs and back really show it up and it can look a litte 'animal-printish'...

Example (not family members...)

..And back to Obama, if say he is assasinated, could we see Hillary Cinton move up to a Vice presidential role or is she more or less out of the picture now...

Obama and his protection needs to watch out for the Israelis. I doubt the Israelis have much to worry about from him. However, if he turns out to be a lot more fair in his dealings than Bush II was, then I wouldn't put it past them to try to assassinate him.
