Bukavu has become very crowded

When I left 9 years ago the population was around 230 000 now its over half a million thats more than double Most immigrants in Bukavu are from Kinshasa They are overcrowding Bukavu therefore decreasing the overall living standards

Bukavu use to have land, if you look at the old aerial view of Bukavu via google maps or google earth you see land Now it is nearly impossible to find land in Bukavu. It's all about knocking down crappy houses and erecting Tall ones

Bukavu is not expanding as fast while the population is ever increasing. At the same rate in less than 10 years Bukavu will pass the million mark.

Yes in Bukavu you get 5 story residential buildings

But some of the talls are Offices, Warehouses and Hotels

Like these:

This building is tres Kitoko I saw it in the final stages Golden Glass cladding all over great location too, it stands out here at Place Du 24 which also underwent a makeover for Kabila's Visit. There is not a single recent pic of the place on the net but this place impressive

The cladding is similar to this Building in Butembo but in a yellowish gold color

This Building is also not Residential it a Guest house (Hotel)

I know.

Bukavu needs to make the land expensive and to erase the crapy houses and redevelop the the city. because it can't expand any further. Unless they move to Kavumu and wallungu.

But Bukavu seriouly need roads. if they put 200 kms/year. that will be amazing.
And i would like Concrete instead of the asphalt. the same for Goma , Butembo and Beni.

I though Goma was too crowded, but when i homeboy told me about how crowded Bukavu is , i was shocked.

Yes, when Kinois visit Goma, they never go back., they find life easier than Kinshasa and so cheap.

Like my friend told me after he lived in Kinshasa for 4 month, that he would rather have $500 in Goma, than having $1,000 in Kinshasa.

You know whats worst. Kinshasa, South Kivu have some of the dumbest governors.

Good that South Kivu has gover rid of their garbage governor.

I forgot to mention the Land.

Land is now very expensive, a small piece of land that cost $7000 back 9 years ago is now $14 000 and even more depending on the location. If you look at the photos you will notice a few non modern houses, thats because those people bought the place a long time ago what the people that can't afford to build but inherited land near waterfronts are doing is diving or selling the place for a high price and build a nice house somewhere far the the city centre.

Most Kinois live in poor suburbs but even the poorest of the suburbs are undergoing a makeover but it is not happening as fast. Even in the so called worst suburbs you will see nice modern houses erected and stand out.

You have a nice home town, I love the water and greenery it makes a good scenery and the houses are BIG and in SA you have to be rich to own one as big and Im actually amazed that they are common here.

Thanks for sharing.

Goma has fantastic views. if you go on the topt of the Volcano. you'll have the some of best views you can get.

Having the Volcanos, the Lake, the City in the middle and then the Virunga Ntional Par in the back ground.

You can't beat that.

Always good to see people creating something out of nothing! (once the infrastructure is in place, DRC will industrialise very easily)
