Rio Gallegos-Santa Cruz Province

Río Gallegos (Galician's River) is the capital (but not the largest city) of the Patagonia province of Santa Cruz . It has a population of about 79,000.

The river was first sighted in 1525 by the explorer Jofré De Loaiza but it was not settled until much later, with one of the earliest recorded indications of habitation in 1885.

Between 1912 and 1920, the government encouraged settlers from the Islas Malvinas-Falkland Islands with preferential farming conditions. Some 3,000 arrived and boosted the town. As sheep-farming increased, Río Gallegos became the principal port for exporting sheep and their products.

The Pioneers Museum is a preserved old Patagonian house exhibiting the life of the early settlers.

Creo que no fue la mejor foto para mostrar el Parque Sarmiento. Existen otras mucho mejores.

hahaha Yes, I know the pic is quite old but I was looking for a complete panoramic view from the observation deck in the park and for some reason that's the only one I could find. Anyway, the view from that place is great now with the new towers in that district and if you find a new one and with a better resolution it would be fantastic.

Río Gallegos looks calm and beautiful, while Córdoba looks vibrating and agile; however, Bariloche and La Plata take the crown .

Highway and viewpoint in Cafayate desert-Salta Province

The Cafayate desert is part of the gorgeus northwestern deserts were you find cacti that take 150 years to grow to twice the height of a man, spectacular ravines, canyons, red desert soil and dramatic rock formations (some of them part of large National Parks and a couple of them UNESCO world heritages).

Rock formations in Cafayate-Salta Province

Rock formation known as the Castle.

Quebrada de las Conchas (the Gorge of the Shells), an immense reddish canyon of eroded rock layers. At every curve of the road there are natural figures in reddish colors, the strange rock formations have names like Anfiteatro (Amphitheatre), Sapo (Toad) or Castillo (Castle).

God! that's a really OLD pic of the obelisk and an ugly pic by the way. Sorry I had to say it.
