hkskyline's 2008 GOLD COAST #1 - Beach and Skyscrapers

I begin my Australia series with photos from Gold Coast. I was in Australia for about 2 months earlier this year, and thoroughly enjoyed travelling around the country's eastern side. The weather was great. Even though it was supposedly autumn, it felt much warmer and brighter!

1. Surprisingly, my flight into Brisbane offered spectacular aerials of Gold Coast, including Q1!

6. The sun was out in full force. I could feel the sun in Australia was a lot more powerful than elsewhere.

8. You can't have a Gold Coast thread without the beach and ocean.

11. From photos I've seen before, it looked like Gold Coast was wall-to-wall skyscrapers along the water. That didn't seem true when I started walking along the beach.

24. I quite like the new buildings that have popped up of late. Some of the designs are not so original, but still look nice under the blue skies.

25. Now these two I thought were original and looked good.

31. Q1 was actually the reason why I wanted to go to Gold Coast, and in the next part, I'll present a lot of photos from the observation deck - the highlight of my day tour.

Very nice place
I saw the sign "danger, no swimming" but no one seems to "see" that...

Incredible summer paradise. I loved it. I must confess I didn't know about Australia's Gold Coast.
Your thread is stunning. Thanks for sharing>

The water looks shark infested. Why is it so murky? I thought the water would be much clearer.

Looks very American. I think the place lacks soul.

I agree, it's a holiday town. It doesn't have much individuality, it's full of tourist apartment towers, tourists from down south and old people.

Nice photos. Looks like a great place to relax. Oh how nice it would be to have a 2nd home in one of those towers where I could open up the screen door and let the evenings breezes in & fall asleep to the sounds of the waves.
