Yeah!
Trichy being neither too far nor too near Chennai - is a great disadvantage. Even though the no of travellers (including the transit ones) is very high, adequate nos of direct trains & flights are not there.

They should explore connecting other destinations like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi. Kochi, Mangalore etc. Great potential to Rajasthan / Gujarat also (Lot of Marwari, Sindhis, will use)

Fog may hamper flights over Chennai - airlines could also look at Tiruchy and Coimbatore as alternative destinations.

“Winter is very dry this year except for early morning chill. But then climatologically, the city has been experiencing less than 500 metres visibility for four days in March,” said Dr R. Suresh, director-in-charge, aerodrome meteorological office in Chennai.

A study based on the past 30 years has revealed that Chennai airport witnesses less than 500 metres visibility for six days in February and four days in March. “We expect foggy conditions for about five days in March this year,” added Dr Suresh.

This is bound to affect early morning flights as a minimum of 550 metres visibility is required to operate the runway in Chennai.

Though the authorities may divert flights to Bengaluru and Hyderabad, airport director E.P.

Hareendranathan said airlines could also look at Tiruchy and Coimbatore as alternative destinations.

“We have to look at availability of air traffic controllers and parking space before directing flights to smaller international airports in the state.

Metro airport schedule wont be disturbed. But the people for connection would be more problem as from these cities its difficult to reach back.

Instead of rerouting to the long distances they are planning like this. If this happens also it is very good. Chennai bound air asia flight from KLonce landed in TRZ due to bad weather in chennai airport few months ago.

currently colombo , dubai, singapore,kaula lumpur & Abu dhabi

however expected are sharjah , Al ain, Bharain, kuwait , riyadh, Dhamam ,Muscut & doha.

When i tried Dubai-Trichy, surprisingly am getting this as connection against earlier 12.55

No. Runway at MAA used to be closed for operations for couple of hours for maintenance and hence Jet flights arrive and depart early at TRZ on these two days.

It seams that Kingfisher is removing its operations from Trichy from 25 March. We are going to loose one chennai and Colombo connection.

Jet have increased their fares to 4000 range.

I guess they are stopping international flights using wide body aircraft and didn't see any reference to CMB though. KF is using ATR and is profitable route for them. Lets see what happens.

No from Mar 25 both the flights are not available. Earlier booking was not allowed, but now not available.

So we are losing two more flights and that too profitable CMB route. Anyway looks like KF is slowly dying.
