One of my favorite skyscraper pictures:
La Defence, Paris. No doubt the best skyline in Europe, whatever they say about Frankfurt.

Indeed great pictures. On street level at night paris beats frankfurt. And whatever what buildings in the other cities in this poll are U/C or proposed - Only Paris will be in a really competition with frankfurt for the next 15 Years. London will getting closer, but to get on one level it would mean, that paris and Frankfurt will stop all constructions for the next 10 Years. That will not happen.

best doesnt mean most skyscrapers Ji-Ja-Jot!!!!!!!! IMO i think Franfurt is nicer than la defense for this reason so is canary wharfs skyline (though my opinions on la dafense and canary wharfs skylines differ daily), though the awful streetscape of La Dafense brings my opinion of the skyline down alot!

that's exactly what I am talking about... I don't like la defence at all, but illuminated at night it looks on streetlevel better than frankfurt (not dense enough and often dark).
And just for you I put in some exclamation marks, because you are obvios in love with exclamation marks...

In all honest most of the pics posted under the caption 'stunning' wernt really, but those last ones were pretty close to stunning.

Ji Jot if you dont think more buildings = a better skyline then why did you mention paris and frankfurt having to halt construction for london to catch up........therefore implying more buildings =better skyline?

wrong if you take the quality of Proposed an U/Cs Project in this cities. Actually i don't really like Paris Proposed supertalls except the absolutley great Tour Phare (wich will be europes best and iconic skyscpraper) but I like them more than Londons proposed and U/C projects. The same for Frankfurt. Paris and Frankfurt are actually ahead of London (you can see it above in the poll ) London imrpoves its skyline not only with mass, it improves it with design, too, although I don't like Shard, Pinnicale, etc - I am not a dubai fan,but if you would build this towers in dubai, many many people would say -"that's ugly", building them in London don't make them better... but thats just my subjective oppinion. Paris and Frankfurt will improve their skylines, too not only with mass, but with quality of the buildings, both cities are not planning to put just some boring boxes in their skylines... That's what I mean with, "Paris and Frankfurt have to stop all projects, before London can run up.
So again in a shot sentance - All three cities have proposed and U/C Projects on the run which are not only boring boxes to get more high buildings and which will change/improve the skylines of the cities - making them more interesting. But Londons Projects are not the best ones to catch up.

Well you are entitled to your opinion but i dont think Londons projects are Dubai esque, and personally i think the shard and pinacle are two of the best proposed skyscrapers around. Tour phare in La Dafense does look a very interesting building and i would love to see it built, however im not sure how well it will sit in la Dafense with the other proposals being quite terrible IMO. Without any major new building Franfurts skyline wont change that dramatically, just slightly improve which isnt to say it isnt great at the moment. London city is creating a new skyline with the pinacle as there really isnt much competition at the moment (adto this the shard just across the river), but Canary wharf is a very impressive skyline with all towers being very high quality and a very dynamic streetscape.

It still comes ackward to me those skyscrapers in London located in extremely narrow streets of the City Centre. I know Canary Wharf area is enabled for that purpose, the whole area was meant for skyscrapers. But those supertalls outside Canary Wharf, although they make a nice panorama, I dont understand how authorities permitted their construction. It even looks unsafe to me, regardless the esthetic (proportions) and the traffic jams.

Frankfurt does, what is necassary to improve it's skyline in the best way. The city had it's "boom" in the end of the last century and created some big holes wich has to be filled and firmed to the sides with smaller, but good projects like the hyatt. London/City is building some high and medium-class projects (because the design of the towers is looking "unfinished"). So London is going to close up to Frankfurt in the 1999. The main projects in Frankfurt (MilleniumTower,Marieninsel) will be build later and that the better option than building them now. Paris has the holes already filled and it's future is to go for the larger main projects. So Paris and Frankfurt are now one step ahead London and they will be still one step in front of London in 15 Years.
And by the way: I can understand, when people say, canary wharf was boring. On the first look it IS a boring area of blocks, which are all nothing special. Sorry to say that. There are three towers wich are okay with average quality. But where is the high quality of the rest?
