I do not know what South American cities have to do with a list of skylines from the European Union???

Finally, although there is room for discussion about the methodology and data (which is the case in all researches), the calculations are 100% objective, which makes the results objective.
Maybe your results are objective but the question demands a subjective answer. Having the greatest number of tall buildings does not make the greatest skyline. Sao Paulo has loads of tall buildings but its skyline is amorphous most people would take Hong Kong ahead of it.

Benidorm is the same situation, it has loads but most people would choose Frankfurt, Paris or London ahead of it.

The problem of cities like Benidorm or Sao Paulo is that they build loads of them but most of them are so tacky and of so poor quality.

Although your examples could have been better (I'm sure Hong Kong would be higher on my list than Sao Paulo and the same holds for Frankfurt, Paris and London compared to Benidorm), I do agree that this objective way is lacking the sujective parts like quality of the buildings, composition of the skylines etc. Therefor this research isn't the final answer of the poll, but it's just another/additional view on the same subject.

The research tries to answer the question what's the MOST IMPRESSIVE skyline of the European Union based on the size, height and density of the skylines. You could fill in your own scores for composition, beauty and quality of the buildings and perhaps your preference of architectural styles etc and then answer the question what's the BEST skyline in the EU.

Cool idea to share this video here! Interesting to see the place changing during the whole day.
This is a good angle of Warsaw, btw...

If Rotterdam constructed all it's proposed towers the city center would have looked like this

Note: The southern part of the city isn't visible on this pano. So the +/- 500m high Parkhaventoren isn't visible.

We had it already and most people agreed it would lokk terrible. If Frabkfurt had constructed all of it's projects it would look terrible either! But it would be much much denser!

Ah okay! I see five towers that are okay. the rest would be even bad for Rotterdam. Let's see what the future holds...

What is that huge wall on the left? Something like the Berlin Wall or the one in Belfast?
And who are the poor people who have to live inside?

^I wouldn't know :S Never seen that proposal.

The only proposal that shouldnt have been denied is the Parkhaventoren

Functional height: 392m
Architectural height: 500m

As I understand there where tenants, interested etc. etc. But the city blew it off at the last moment because this tower will cause huge traffic problems etc...

you ignore the proportional factor totally , as you know, la defense is just a decentralized district, and proportionally viewed, tiny compared to the whole skyline of paris, and as you know it's all about skylines here and not about skyline parts or such.

an exaggerated example: there are two guys, one guy is 1.80 tall (5.9') the other one is 3.60 tall (11.8') both are owners of a 20cm (8'') genital ... do you understand what i mean?

la defense makes, let me guess ...maybe 5% to 10% of the paris skyline, benidorm's highrises maybe 90% of benidorm's skyline , frankfurt's skyscrapers and highrises maybe 60%-70% of frankfurt's skyline. (roughly approximately)

just to get a feeling for proportions:

Not really, of course it's not located in the Paris's "hypercentre" but only a few kms away (and still in the metro. area's center).
For example, Canary Wharf is further from the heart of London, than LD is from Paris's heart !

So, according to your criteria:
Which cities of 10+ million inhabitants have a "real skyline".... compared to their total size ????

Very, very few of them !

Yes, you could have mentioned the size of Paris' built-up area. If you consider the whole "body" of Paris, then La Défense IS central! The core of Paris is smaller in size than Frankfurt, but with more than 2 million people inside. And La Défense bordering it, is still central IMO! One has to consider it as a whole, at least in such a megacity as Paris. Otherwise one would have to say that Moscow, Istanbul etc. do also have "decentralized" skylines for not having the skyscrapers right next to the Kremlin or the Bosphorus.
