Don't forget Madrid, with the OPCH. Actually, Madrid has 4 skyscrapers over 230m...

But supertalls over 300m are very unlikely for Madrid, while there are several planned and approved in Paris and London and even one for Frankfurt. But not a single one for Madrid. 230m is not a supertall,...

A supertall is U/C in London and should be beginning to rise by the end of the year.

Actually I would say 75% chance Madrid gets 1 or 2 supertalls in OPCH the plans already allow for a couple of buildings of free height. Is really early in the process of the operation. There is no renders of specific towers just volumes and density figures. Plus Madrid needs more office buildings like someone else said. They only have 4 towers and a few highrises in AZCA area. These towers are making people want to move from their classic buildings like from la Gran Via which are turning into hotels and high class residential to these efficient towers, plus Madrid grows an average of 8% in office space every year.

I posted this before but here is an idea of what it might look like. Infrastructure wont be done till 2013-2014 so we have a while.

green= U/C, the cheese starts on Sept but they already laid down the first stone.

blue= proposed

red= cancelled, the land was given back to the old property owners by a judge. But the max sq meters for office space in the project will stay the same. This might force to make the other towers taller.

Anyways till 2014 we don’t expect any other 200m+ towers

debates about future plans are crystal-ball discussions and irrational, not to mention that "density" is a circumstance but not a attribute for the beauty of a skyline.

there are just and only a very few dense and simultaneously good looking skylines world wide.

The thread is not about the most beautiful but the "best Skyline" (which is subjective of course, but implies a minimum density i think) ...

Best skyline would automatically include most pretty to me, otherwise what aspects must you measure it on? Height... well some of the best skylines are not made up of the tallest buildings. Number of buildings.......4 buildings can be better than 100. Density....cramming all buildings into one place can often leave a very poor skyline.

Beauty is the main criteria for the best skyline, beauty in massing, beauty in percieved scale, beauty in numbers, beauty in height variations etc.

This is true. When I think about Benidorm for example. With it's numerous ugly buildings. The sheer number doesn't make up the ugliness of that place. The same goes for most South American skylines I have seen here so far. Only Santiago and Buenos Aires I remember as being beautiful and organized skylines. The rest of them look quite cheap, shabby and chaotic. I wonder if there are any good architects around there...
Asian skylines however are the ones I most like! Along with the two N. American classics NYC, Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver, San Fran and (my personal opinion) Houston.
