It is not as simple

There is an Highway and various local roads with 'underground' junctions; one line of RER (express railway), one line of metro, a railway station, a tramway station
All that is underground

This is your opinion, if you prefer that kind of buildings :

Tour Crédit Lyonnais :

The same tower after refurbishment (Tour Opus 12):

The tower renovated, with its ex-twin sister :

London Cluster No.2 Canary Wharf

I'm going with Frankfurt,

But I will save my vote for a few years when LBT, The Heron Tower and The Pinnacle have all topped out....then the answer will be London.

then you should vote for Frankfurt now and few years later for London. I don't get it - why certain people in each topic are talking about non-existing yet but "definietly going to be kick-ass" skyline of a particular city.

"NY skyline is OK but Beograd/Minsk/Kharkov/xxx skyline in 2020 will be better" - that sounds just sad for me.

anyway - nice photo eddyk

Don't worry, La Défense is already "kicking ass" with or without its planned towers......

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those who don't know why the name of "La Défense" :

This is due to a statue called "La Défense de Paris" erected after the war of 1870 against Germans (as usual.. ) and this statue was erected in memory of the Parisians who have defended their city during that war....

The statue is still there :

Look, what would France have as statues and places if they had no wars to give the names. Napoléon the pacifist place would be a good new addition!
But anyway, La Défense is such a nice name - as the very most French words are just beautiful. If you had a place calles "Place de la Merde" most people around the world would still consider it beautiful. French language just has no ugly words as other languages have.

Well the favourite term in French classes was always "grande arche"... the Grande Arsch

Yes Napoleon the pacifist.. I love that name !

Anyway, we have statues, streets, and places named with real war/battle names :

Stalingrad (such a beautiful name)
Crimée
Alma
Trocadero
Austerlitz
Iena
Friedland
Libération
Débarquement
Bir Hakeim
Lubeck

etc

And also in memory of great leaders during wars :
Roosevelt
Eisenhower
Churchill
Foch
Général Leclerc

etc

BTW, All the street names in honor of Germany was removed in 1914 :

Rue de Berlin -> Rue de Liège (and also the metro station: Berlin -> Liège)
Avenue d'Allemagne -> Avenue Jean-Jaurès (and also the metro station Allemagne -> Jaurès)

I didn't say, that Paris 1985 was beautfull. I said the skyline looked better than today, because the place seemed more orginized, tied up and more decent. The building projects after 1985 are more and more a kind of failed attention whores - not going far enough, to be "real" attention whores. In germany we call it 08/15. I don't know a translation for 08/15. Perhaps a German speaking user can help me here.

OK, in french it means : Ordinaire, Banal...

So indeed, I agree for some towers.... but Paris is not Shanghai or Dubaï... la Défense simply needs office spaces and sometimes the architectural side is not the first
consideration !

P.S. should we limit this thread only to photos of skylines and not individual buildings, street scenes, project renders, UFO's, etc.?

I guess we can show some detailed photos of the most interesting scrapers, as a addition to skyline pics, but that should be it.
