I really like the Warsaw skyline by the higrises surrounding the classical landmark.

Great shot with sunset!

Believe me, we also have ugly words !!
It's LA Grande Arche !!
That may seem ugly for you, not for my ears. I learned it for 6 years and have never heard of any ugly word!

But today there are several such names in France again,...

This remains me of someone in South Africa who told me that he had lived in Switzerland and made trips to Genève in France and to Leipzig in Austria!

This is true, sometimes our place names are not written orthographically correct.

In Paris, In fact, only one (I don't kwow for other french cities, but I don't think there are) : Square de Berlin, a ridiculous small square with three trees, named in 1999 (located beetween the large avenues Roosevelt and Eisenhower).. I'm really ashamed about that !!

In fact, it has some resemblance to Singapore which has got a very compact (perhaps not much bigger than CW) skyline yet it is one of the most iconic and best skylines in the world. Another little problem with CW though is the boxyness... as someone noticed buildings are indeed too boxy and lack some character.

And that picture is taken from Victoria Dock (where ExCeL is located) and per my understanding is the best location to see the CW skyline. Also that slanted-top building is not in Canary Wharf but blends into the skyline perfectly.
The skyline in Warsaw will be built up eventually. Warsaw is a much smaller city in a country that's not as wealthy yet as England. That being said it looks better than Canary Wharf.

I agree....(like many projects of Jean Nouvel it's horrible) !

Actually it's a clone of the London' giant phallus !!

I think some cities are competing for the most phallic tower .. Because :

Even Paris will have its giant phallus :

Better is realtive. I personally LOVE such shabby areas. They are at least organic and not such sterile areas without soul!
