I don't why but I got the impression that Paris projects will make the cluster look smaller. It is as if the bigger skyscrapers overshadow the shorter towers.

And by the way, very often the final result of a project looks not so good, like on the renders. In 2015 there will be a new thread and then we will see, if milan is one of the best, or a candidate for the second-skyline thread. Time does not stand still and the future will show us
Perhaps we schould start a thread, "proposed skylines in Europe 2015"...
I agree with you but all those towers are or will be definitely under construction very soon.
In some cities there are few projects that maybe, with the current financial situation, they will never be approved or maybe they will be delayed.
Now, we don't know if other towers will be proposed for Milan in the future (actually a new one was recently approved just on the outskirts and will be 212 m high called "Milanone") and I'm sure all these constructions, once they will be finished, they will attract new investors in the city and not to mention the EXPO that will relaunch the image of the city (and hopefully of the whole country) in Europe and in the world. So the battle is open and Milan is surely working hard

sorry, the EXPO is not the same today, like 100 Years ago. The effect, you hope to see for Milan did not happend to the last EXPO cities like for example Hannover, Lisboa...
Perhaps you think about the EXPO Shanghai 2010, but the boom of this city is not connected with the EXPO next year.

a picture of twipsy, the Hannover EXPO-Mascott....

in germany it was the biggest mascot-flop until go-leo, the lion without throusers, of the world cup 2006 made it even worse ...

My top 5:

1. Frankfurt (no comment needed, it's commonly known that it has the best skyline so far)
2. Paris (I simply love LD, mainly because everything's precisely planned there, it's dense enough and I love both the existing skyscrapers and the future projects)
3. London (I love the atmosphere the skyscrapers create + the Gherkin is awesome. Most of the buildings look pretty simple, yet elegant. Lovin' it. )
4. Warsaw (I'm Polish, do I need to say anything else? Well, even though it's a little chaotic, overally it doesn't look that bad. Actually, it creates some kind of specific atmosphere which I like. Also, I'm in love with the Rondo 1)
5. Rotterdam (it looks good)

At the moment (and also in future) Paris and London beat Frankfurt in terms of highrise numbers, but don't have an overall quality like it (which makes frankfurt the current #1 for me).
The best future skyline might depend on the real number of projects that actually will be built. Paris has lots of nice projects but they seem to have some megalomanic dubai appearance -esp. in design (what I don't like that much).

Didac says he is not "anti-german" xD
Look at his recent posts on german cities in the "rate our skylines" section ..

Frankfurt doesn't seem to have any highrise areas outside the skyscrapers cluster.

No? Hum, Eschborn and the other side of the Main river do still have lots of highrises as well as some residential areas far outside the bank cluster!

He doesn't like us, it is obvious. Although we never did him any harm! Maybe he is angry about many of the German Mallorca tourists who have no behaviour... But that is not our fault.

I was not criticizing Frankfurt. That was just the impression that I got from the city.

One part of Bürostadt Niederrad:

Sachsenhausen residential area:

(not a good take, but however):

Niederrad:

Bonames:

Frankfurter Berg:

Driving alongside Frankfurt on Autobahn A5 will show you some outskirts and their highrises...

Eschborn (metro city that merged with Frankfurt):

(Frankfurt skyline far in the background):

And the new Deutsche Börse being built in Eschborn:
There is much more but unfortunately no pics...

Ok, that's fine man. But you have to see that perhaps these areas are not so well known. I for instance had never seen any of those photos before.

Thanks for the pics.

Maybe... or maybe you underrate them. I think that there is no other city that can invest all those billions euros in the next 4 or 5 years. Not cz Milan is better than others, but because Expo brings a good business, so it can add new projects to the projects already planned and under costruction. I really belive that Milan's skyline will be among the best... we will see.
However i don't understand why you react to other opinions like that. I love all Europe, and when i see that they are doing something good into another European city i am just happy.

You are welcome! I know that these areas are almost never shown here. I think it is because they are not of the most beautiful areas and they are mostly midrise and highrise and no real skyscrapers.

This is true. I am happy and proud with every huge project in Europe no matter where in Europe. I am happy with all of them. Paris, London, Moscow, Madrid or Warsaw. It is all Europe and I love to see new buildings rising there!
