^ Yes, It's one of the wealthiest and best organized cities (pop. 1,8 mio./ 3,3 mio. in metro) the country has to offer. It's located in the south (south-eastern part of Paraná) where lots of people have a german, italian and/or spanish background.

There is also "Best 2nd tier skyline" and I think these photos would fit better in there

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=875962

Having one or two highrises does not allow to pretend for the best skyline in EU

I recommend you Rio de Janeiro downtown, Recife, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Salvador, Florianopolis, Santos and Brasilia.

Sao Paulo is kind of a mess, but their are some good sites like Berrini and Paulista Avenue.

De Rotterdam finally starts construction at the end of 2009! A new 149m tall building on the pier close to the Maastoren (165m) and the now u/c New Orleans (158m)

The Maastoren just finished construction (165m, tallest building of the Benelux)

And New Orleans is u/c right now, a new 158m tower on the same part as the Maastower and De Rotterdam

WOW! finally!!! De Rotterdam is one of my favorite projects in Rotterdam.
I am delighted that construction begins and I just can't wait to see Rotterdam with all the new projects.

Unfortunately, this will be a real eyesore.

I agree, very bulky and not very skyscraperlike. Not very erchitecturaly interesting, just too boxy and too much of it.

^ I like it. It somehow reminds me of the "Cullinan" bulding ensemble in Hong Kong (Kowloon). Maybe because it's that massive. But I think it should get a more gracile and tall neighbor (like the 2IFC )

^On the other side of the pier this is u/c;

(New Orleans)

Next to New Orleans this tower is planned;

(Havana)

Next to De Rotterdam and 2 other towers this tower is planned;

(Baltimore)

Overview of the planned pier, the Wilhelminapier;

^The tower you see in the back (purple) reached final height a few weeks ago (Maastower), De Rotterdam goes u/c in december, New Orleans is already u/c and reached like floor 10 or even higher. Then you have the planned towers Havana and Baltimore and 3 small planned towers,. The 2 in the front got finished a long time ago.

Rotterdam continuously decreases in architectural highrise quality. They built much better stuff in the past.

'The Rotterdam' is ugly as hell and that is not because i'm from Amsterdam. If it was built in A'dam then i would think the same.

A child can make 'The Rotterdam', staple some blocks and voila...you have a tower. There is no inspiration, no creativity, no something that is likely for your eyes. A wall! It also doesn't fit with the others towers.

And about the Wilhelminapier, why is everything so simple? New orleans, all the stores are the same, there is no variation. The same you can say about The Havana.

Wish they built more towers what they built in Frankfurt. Like the Opernturm, simple, elegant, but a little bit different because the opening in every side in the middle.
