To me, maybe, the best skyline of UE being Paris, first, London and Frankfurt.

But at Spain, the most actually, modern, avantgarde being Barcelona, who isn't in this list...

This thread is not good, because only post eight citys, and not anothers citys who maybe aren't capitals but yes more important in the financial world.

Amsterdam have no really skycrapers .

Madrid and Warsaw are in the poll ...

And these cities don't have the same power than London , Paris & Frankfurt ..

Well, maybe his post is bit confused, but Frankfurt is not a capital city and it's very important in the financial world.

First of all, learn to type proper English!

Second, we where talking about overall importancy in the world. Not only about the # of skyscrapers

Anyway the result is the same whatever the kind of ranking : London, Paris & Frankfurt have a larger economic & financial importance than any other city on the continent, London, Paris and Frankfurt have the largest number of skyscrapers, London and Paris have a larger cultural importance than any other city on the continent, Paris and London (+ Berlin) have a larger political importance than any other city in Europe (without Russia), Paris and London are the most visited city in Europe and they are the two biggest city in EU....

Only Milan is missing IMO, because it's the fourth city/metropolitan area by economic importance and GDP in Europe.

A research from Mastercard made clear that London is the most influential city in the world economy. They made a top of 25 cities. With London at #1, Paris at #7, Frankfurt at #8, Amsterdam #10 and Madrid #11. I don't think Milan is more important than Madrid or Amsterdam or Rotterdam. Eventually, Rotterdam has the biggest port in Europe wich makes it an imporant port. Besides, Brussels is also very important for the EU, as well is The Hague!

this thread is getting more pointless every day. it's more of a city vs city bashing thread than anything else... it's certainly not about skylines anymore.

A raking by "influence" is a bit subjective and I could find several other ones with different results....

Which is NOT subjective is Gross Metropolitan Product (GMP) :

1 Paris metropolitan area € 546,8 billions.
2 Greater London, € 465,7
3 Rhine-Ruhr € 330,9
4 Milan metropolitan area € 241,2
5 Randstad (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, the Hague, Utrecht) € 216,3
6 Frankfurt/Rhine-Main € 152,1
7 Madrid metropolitan area € 145,8
8 Brussels-Antwerp € 138,5

(source Eurostat)

As you can see Milan's economy is better than 4 major dutch cities put together.

Purchasing power is also a good indicator of power and wealth by area :

As you can see Milan metro area is well ranked in both indicators !!!
And don't forget it's the economic capital of Italy, wich is a G7 member and have the 7th economy in the world.

About the Hague and Brussel's importance, it is the same for Strasbourg. Anyway, their importance is far far away behind London, Paris or Berlin in diplomacy/foreign politic.
