On the other hand, the Pitt Street Mall is the world's tenth most expensive retail rent spot... http://www.lisney.com/About-Lisney/N...g-streets.aspx

The Pitt Street Mall is a bit of a 'work in progress' at the moment.

The Westfield Sydney redevelopment takes up half of the Castlreagh Street side of the mall, whilst the redevelopment of the Mid City Centre takes up roughly a quarter of the George Street side.

The Pitt Street Mall will have access to six shopping centres and arcades when Westfield Sydney and the Mid City Centre are completed. Westfield Sydney will have over 250 stores spread across 6 floors and promises to bring a range of new entries to the Australian market. Mid City Centre will have 55 stores across 4 floors. Both will have flagship stores fronting the Pitt Street Mall.

Other retail centres include Sydney Central Plaza. Sydney Central Plaza (3 floors, 80+ stores) is home to Australia's largest Myer department store (8 floors, 47 000 sq m) as well as ck Calvin Klein, Espirit, French Connection and Aussie labels Calibre, Cue, Marcs, Mimco, Morrissey, Rhodes and Beckett, Saba, Witchery. The Strand Arcade (5 floors, 70+ stores) is home to some of the most popular Australian designer labels including Alannah Hill, Alex Perry, Akira, Bettina Liano, Gary Castles Sydney, Jayson Brundson, Leona Edmiston, Lisa Ho, Little Joe by Gail Elliott, Mimco and music superstore JB Hi Fi. Glasshouse (25+ stores, 3 floors) and Sydney Arcade (20+ stores, 2 floors). Sydney Arcade is home to the likes of Mountblanc, Bally and Ben Sherman.

Pitt Street proper has more shopping options with stores on the north side of the pedestrianised mall including Lacoste, French Connection and an Apple reseller.

Belfast has Royal Avenue and Victoria Square. Both have a mix of popular chain stores/cafes and both (especially Victoria Sq) have a good mix of upper class shops.
