What about Mysore Airport`s future..???

Why dont Airline companies dont think on Mysore`s potential. Whenever they think to connect Mysore, there option alwaz ends with Connecting with Bangalore.

The best selected routes they can try ( ATR Small houl routes ) :

Chennai - Mysore -Mangalore

Kochi- Mysore - Hyderabad

Mangalore - Mysore - Madurai

Mysore - Mangalore - Goa

Mumbai - Goa - Mysore...............etc

Mysore airport will shut once a nice metro line links kengeri with BIAL(metro phase 2/HSR).Tippu express is doing mysore-bangalore in 2hrs 15 min for 139 km,a 150 kmph train must bring it down to 1.5 hrs, that will be tremendous for Mysore's growth.

Mysore airport shall be meant for chartered flights only henceforth

Talks on with Jet Airways to operate two flights to Mysore

Quote:
These flights may become operational in April: Ramdas

District in-charge and Medical Education Minister S.A. Ramdas has said that talks are on with Jet Airways to operate two flights from Bangalore to Mysore and indicated that they may become operational in April.

Mr. Ramdas was addressing presspersons here on Saturday on the budget proposals pertaining to Mysore district, and the city in particular. Chairman of the Karnataka Housing Board G.T. Deve Gowda, Chairman of Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) L. Nagendra and Chairman of the Zoo Authority of Karnataka M. Nanjundaswamy were present.

The airline authorities said they were purchasing five aircraft, of which two would be operated to Mysore, Mr. Ramdas said.

(Kingfisher Airlines suspended its operations to Mysore some time ago.)

On the matter of expansion of the airport, Mr. Ramdas said that “some land is yet to be acquired”.

Report is incorrect. If somebody takes 2hrs to reach BIAL from city centre, he would take same amount of time to reach Kengeri junction from the same point in the city. If someone opts NICE to reach Kengeri this weill improve a bit. Then 3hrs to Mysore (Channpatna and Mandya has bus stand located on the BLR-MYS highway which causes at least 30-45min delay). One might want to spend atleast a coffee break, which will kill 30minutes minimum and 1hr if it is food break. So total travel time is around is 5hr even if the best case. (One may argue Kengeri-MYS non-stop is 2.5hrs, which I agree. But end to end if some one brings it, it takes more than 5hrs).

Mysore airport could be on flight path again

Quote:
Mysore: Six months after commercial flight services to Mysore were cancelled, the government has stepped in and tried to persuade operators, including Air India,to use the facility.
Two operators SpiceJet and IndiGo have got back to the government with their proposals and have sought assistance to manage commercial flights for four months.Chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda has in principle agreed to assist them, district minister S A Ramadas said. They want to operate flights to Hyderabad,Chennai and Goa via Bangalore in the morning and evening.SpiceJet will get five ATR-72 aircraft by the end of the month and will be able to start operations,he explained.
The DC said operators want a guarantee for 50% of seats while industrialists said they will book 25 seats on outbound flights but have demanded a change in schedule. When Kingfisher Airlines was operating flights six days a week in the afternoon.Mysore Travel Agents Association president BS Prashanth said there have been a lot of enquires for flights to Mysore.

Kingfisher resumes Blore-Hubli service

Hubli: Kingfisher Airlines resumed its services between Hubli and Bangalore with changed timings from May 1.The services were called off a month ago due to various reasons. The flight timings (except Tuesday and Saturday): Flight will leave for Bangalore from Hubli at 11.55am;it will leave Bangalore to Hubli at 10am.TNN

Mysore airport

Flying via blr will never work. The previous daily flight by KF did not have much traffic to/from MYQ mainly because of that. Direct flights to MAA, COK and HYD would probably attract traffic from mysore.

Spicejet Got Q400 bombardier planes..
Recently had travelled on Bangalore - Vizag route. Flight was good enough. Far better than ATR's.

Mysore shouldnt be connected to Bangalore. Its an meaningless route.

The best routes these companies can make good profits are:

Mangalore- Mysore- Chennai
Kochi- Mysore- Hyderabad
Coimbatore- Mysore- Mumbai

On these 3 routes Mysore can be connected to 6 Destinations.

Hope for the best..!!!!
