Brasilia was planned as a car city. The Brasilia metro operates limties hours and with large hadways (15-20 minutes) so its not popular. Maybe when the system is exapnded it will be used more.

The SP and Rio subways are more extensive and well used

Brasilia Urban Transport Improvements

IADB lends Brazil $176 million to improve bus system in Brasilia
16 January 2008

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (AP) - The Inter-American Development Bank approved a US$177 million (€119 million) loan to Brazil on Wednesday for an urban transportation program in Brasilia, the capital.

The bank said in a statement the loan would improve bus transportation especially for low-income residents in Brasilia, where around 2.8 million people commute each day.

The program will invest in roads, bus stations, crosswalks, sidewalks, traffic lights and bicycle paths, the bank said.

The loan is for 25 years, with a 5-year grace period. Brazilian sources will provide an additional US$93 million (62.5 million) in financing, the bank said.

Brasilia, designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer in the 1950s, is a modernistic city in Brazil's central plains and notoriously deficient in public transportation.

Brasília Subway

These are some pics of the subway system in Brasília, DF, Brazil. It is fast, clean but still under construction. The whole project is expected to be done by 2014, including the Light rail lines and other changes in the city´s public transport system.
Although some of the stations have not been completed yet, the system is currently working fine. All the stations in the central area ( around 9 ) are underground, and all the others in the suburbs are surface, except for one, ( Praça do Relogio station, which is also underground ).
Public Transport in Brasilia has been improving considerbly. I will try to post more pictures of all what has been done so far as well as what is about to come.

Why are there so many stations without opening?.
I only know that 108 Sul station already is open, But when the other stations will be opened?

This is 108 Sul station, both orange and green lines bypass this station.
Some of the stations in both lines are not open yet.
