Awesome pictures, I really like the ones of downtown at night and the one from the Liberty Memorial. You get a pretty good view from up there.

I would like to know what to do in Kansas City, where to go, where NOT to go, if it's violent, if I can take pictures of the city with my expensive camera, stuff like that. I'm thinking about visiting Kansas City for New Years Eve. Is there a Hard Rock Cafe?

Thanks =)

Museums:
Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art (Both the Nelson and Kemper are free)
Liberty Memorial (excellent opportunities to get shots of downtown)
Union Station
Jazz District (Jazz Museum and Negro League Hall of Fame)
Steamboat Arabia Museum

Shopping, dining, and entertainment:
Power & Light District
Restaurant Row on 39th and State Line
The River Market
The Country Club Plaza (it's lit up now)
Crossroads Art District (it helps to come during the first Friday of any month)

If you want to go to KC during New Years, Union Station is where they do the countdown.

Areas to be vigilant in:
Any place between Troost and Prospect Ave
Bannister area

However, these spots tend to be out of the way anyways, so you have nothing to worry about. And even in those areas, there are gems such as the Jazz District (still helps to be vigilant). Just being aware of your surroundings goes a long way.

Wow thank you for the information!

I think maybe my husband will get a job at Lee's Summit or Lenaxa that's why we are going to Kansas City, to visit the city and to feel it.

Thank you very much for the information.

No problem.
Just be sure to give an update on your impressions.
We Kansas Citians tend to have a slight inferiority complex and always like to hear what outsiders think of of our city.
I may not even live within the suburban limits of KCMO, but am still proud of that place for all its faults and virtues.
