LEGO Burj Dubai Model

I am making a lego model of the Burj Dubai. When it is finished, it will be about 4 metres (13 feet) tall.

cool!

i miss playing with lego. its all changed now though - you snap two pieces together and the model is done. in my day, you had hundreds of small pieces and you could make literally anything out of them.

I have nearly finished the Lego Burj Dubai structurally. I still have the base to finish, as well as some structure in the wings.
The model is 3.9 metres (or 12.8 feet) tall.
Each of the horizontal structural parts is at the top of each tier, which clearly shows the spacing between each setback.
I decided to dismantle the original, and build it stronger, and also build it from the top down. All the dimensions for the scale are within a couple of studs of the real Burj Dubai. Scale is 1 stud = 1.75m or 1:210.

The model in its final height.

Great job! Are you going to add clading? That will take a considerable number of pieces.

I have completed more of my LEGO Burj Dubai. it is proportionately correct except for the base, which I made to suit the remaining pieces. the only mistake is that the tiers spiral the wrong way, so it is a mirror image.
I will take some more photos soon, with it partially clad.

not really, I kind of suck at basketball, and sport in general, but I am more brain than brawn.
The model is going through the hoop just in case the wind picks up. (I had an accident previously with a collapse, no pieces broken)

If anyone wants to know why it is mainly red and yellow, it is because i have 3 ferrari's, a mobile crane, and a telehandler forklift, and I have barely any blue, or silver pieces.

also I have nearly ran out of these pieces, even though I have nearly 1000.

Too windy today to put it up, but here are some photos of the partial cladding:

I have done as much as I can (I am making it from my own pieces, which, although I have a lot of them, I have a limited amount)
What it would look like looking down from the very top! (big picture)

Having a model like this, I have really got a grasp of the proportions. It's not as good as seeing the real thing, but it is still pretty impressive.
If there is anyone who lives in Christchurch, New Zealand, I will show it off some time at Toyworld.

(also please take note of my signature, I have changed my username)

Yes, but they probably have access to commercial amounts of lego, and probably get payed for it too.

I think I am going to make the Guangzhou tv tower next.
If anyone has any other ideas, please tell me, I haven't started yet.
It will be at about the same scale as the BD model, at 1:200 scale.
Also If I had an unlimited supply of LEGO, I'm sure I could make a BD model a lot better than those other ones, (they seem a bit disproportionate)

new model

I am going to make a structure based on the Tokyo Sky Tree.
I am also aiming to make it as high as possible, maybe even 1:100 scale, or more than 6 metres!

I will also try and make a mechanism for raising the aerial at the top, because I won't be able to reach it.

It will be approximately the same proportions as the real building, except I might make the base a bit wider for extra stability, but the two observation decks should be in the right place.
