Steel is up to the 56th floor. The "roof/ceiling" of the mech floor is the next office floor, the 56th.

Their is only one mech floor before the setback. Their is one mechanical floor at the top.

Commercial real estate websites like Loopnet, show the office floor numbering omits the mech floor (ie. 54, 55, 56, and so on, as all office floors).

The current floor numbering goes like this,

Floors 16-55: Office
55M: Mechanical
56-71: Office
72: Mechanical

http://www.lowermanhattan.info/const...wer_76774.aspx

Rising to a height of 72 stories (977 feet), the tower will house 1.8 million square feet of office and 146,000 square feet of retail space. It will feature 53 office floors, five stories of retail, and access to underground transit.

*The following information was last updated on November 11, 2011.

Steel is now above floor 47
Concrete is being poured above floor 39
Curtain wall installation began in late April 2011 and is now above floor 23

----------------------------------

Strange floor numbering, why starting with number 16 as first office floor? On http://www.wtc.com/leasing/leasing-t...ter-floorplans they start with number 7 though..

They're using the new floor count of 72 floors, but counting the floors under the old plan... ugh. 47 was the last office floor and 48th is the mech floor. So they're kinda sorta correct in saying steel is above floor 47.

But jeez if your going to use 72 as the number of floors, then use the new floor counting. If they tell people their on floor 47, with 72 total, they're going to be surprised when then see this top out in 16 more floors instead of 25.

Thank you for clearing this up, spectre000!

Probably it's better for marketing, when they can rent floors with higher numbers..

the 47th floor?

well if its the 48th floor that was supposed to be the forst setback floor, according to wikipedia, it shows steel reached the 56th floor. does this mean the setback floors now start at the 55th floor? or is the person who edits wikipedia just making guesses?

Maybe you should read some of spectre's previous posts instead of reading falsipedia.

I hope they put up the first steel for the trapezoid floors tomorrow. They've done plenty of work on the mechanical floor, so I think it should be time for it.

I hope they will. They've been constructing the mech floor for an eternity now, LOL

"Cam 6" here has a good look at the steel work that's been installed on the mech floor. It has a lot of extra strengthening beams compared to a standard floor.

Self-sufficiency is hard to come by these days. He probably needs people to wipe his ass after he takes a dump too.
