Yeah, I mixed up fireproofing work and concrete pouring. Concrete is still some floors ahead of cladding (see below), hopefully they resume the fireproofing work soon!

btw, cocoon is adapted to its new size, maybe today we see a jump!

from http://www.lowermanhattan.info/const...wer_76774.aspx

*The following information was last updated on January 4, 2012.

Steel is now above floor 57
Concrete is being poured above floor 46
Curtain wall installation began in late April 2011 and is now above floor 38

Steel for the next two office floors went up today. That's floors 51 and 52 under the old floor count (can also be considered 50 and 51 under the architects drawings (thanks Otie!). And 59 and 60 under the current system.

There's a stuffed (fake) horse on the terrace made by the setback with the number 50 spraypainted on it. It's too small for me to take a picture of, but I can see it with my telescope using my highest mag. eyepiece.

I gave it a shot and tried to CSI it up a bit.

It looks more like a 50 without the camera.

That striped lower section of the facade has a memory of the old WTC.........maybe this has been mentioned before but I haven't visited this thread as often as WTC1.

Here it is

Roof height used below!

1WTC = 353 meters or 1159 feet out of 418 meters or 1371 feet
4WTC = Approximately 235 meters or 771 feet out of 298 meters or 977 feet
157 = 188 meters or 618 feet out of 306 meters or 1005 feet

(Note: I used the 418 meter figure for 1WTC when measured from the lowest above ground entrance and I used the 298 meter figure for 4WTC.)

Edit: 1WTC is still 347 meters or 1138 feet tall, I made an error and I apologize for it.

Wow, that was quick

So 298-235=63m to the roof for 4 WTC vs. 71m for 1 WTC.. looks like this one will hit roof height first

Looks like STR's diagram has the wrong elevation, floor 51 is at 757 above Greenwich entrance (El. 312') + 4' splice= 761'.

I think in some way, each new WTC tower takes cues (or pays homage, whatever you want to call it) from the old towers.

I could see where you might be able to argue that for 4, but not sure about towers 2 and 3.

In some renderings of the site (looking at it from the East River), Tower 3 is vaguely reminiscent of the South Tower, especially with the four spires at its pinnacle.

Tower 2 has the massing (and to a lesser extent, the height) of the old towers, but not the shape.

See below for this StR created rendering which illustrates my point.
