No, I realize that. I just meant that if you are unsatisfied with the height of buildings in the 400m range, I think you'll be unsatisfied for a looong time following US projects. That is why I suggested China for you the home of the 600 m tower. Also the jingoistic attitude of 'stick it to the terrorists' by building hyper tall buildings no matter the economic risk was never going to happen in this country. Seriously, how could it? The country is broke and doesn't build to make statements anymore. Also I feel that doing that would just be stooping to their level anyway, giving in to their game. Best go about things the way we need to, not by taking a reactive approach precipitated by terrorist acts.

That's how I see it as well. Back on topic, glad fireproofing has resumed again. Now as soon as the eastern side crane is removed, the cladding on that side can catch up. Cladding isn't really very far from the setback either!

From the webcam, it looks like they've removed the last pieces of the tower crane's base today. So they should be able to resume steel work shortly.

I agree, but once the WTC is built, maybe it will spark the development of taller towers. 10 years from now the US could be building 4-600 meter buildings.

note: I said could be, didn't say it would be. I'm not really all that sure about the skyscraper future of the USA, but if taller projects are going up in cities like LA, Miami, SF etc. there's no reason NY and Chicago couldn't follow and build bigger than they have before.

but then again this is just me being hopeful.

Disregard this quote, I thought you were living in the US, so this does not really apply. Silly me.

That last shot is a nice angle. It shows how number 3 is clearly making progress.

How many more feet does this have to go to top out? 200?

Yeah, T3 is definitely getting taller. And you're right about the height of T4, about ~205 feet left to go.

Some photos from Wednesday/Thursday from the 53rd floor of the hilton

*sorry I couldn't get very good angles because the windows were really dirty and the blinds in the room were white and caused too many reflections
