Thanks for showing interest in my work, Spectre. Unlike other, I don't seek feeding my ego, so I post them when it's necessary e.g. trying to answer questions.

I've screwed my laptop with too much overwork to the graphic card, damn I hate hp... No new stuff till I get a brand new PC There's a huge chance I can get 3Ds Max + Vray, so expect real work by this fall.

edit: I've posted some oldies on the 1WTC thread.

The left crane will soon be increased if they resume the construction, I think.

Today they removed the boom from the crane and I assume they lowered it to the street level.

I do not think this necessarily means that the boom was damaged, but I am sure that they will be reinspecting the entire rig from top to bottom after an incident like this. This includes a visual inspection of the boom's chords and laces (chords form the box shape, laces make the triangles), and a magnetic particle test of the entire boom (to verify welds).

They will then likely bring in a new drum with wire the replacement wire rope already on it.

Not sure if they already removed the drum with the bad rope.

That kind of snap probably caused the boom to lift up from where it was and then fall back down to where the gantry had lowered it at the time this load was lifted. Yikes.
PA/NYC DOB has ordered the entire crane taken and removed form service. The similar 1900 crane on twr 3 east is out of service pending ongoing investigation of incident.

Would that mean they can put in a completely different crane and resume work during the investigation?

Yes they could bring in a different tower crane after it is approved by PA/NYC DOB to replace the 1900 being dismantled as part of investigation.

wow. i mean, knowing DOB, i shouldn't be surprised.

I am sure they have another CD# crane on the Crane Notice for the tower, but the mob/demob/remob/second demob is killer.

I foresee some Saturdays and some 10's...

Are you aware if a cause has been found? Certainly seems like damage in the line was missed during inspection, or occurred during the two weeks it was operating...

doesnt seem like an operator error or exceeding the charts....

I see from other pictures that new steel still seems to be going up on WTC 4. This is good news. I thought they'd be shut down for a while.

No need. The accident crane has been removed, the remaining one is still good

It's good to hear that there is still progress going on but I bet that the disassembly of the crane and assembly of a replacement is gonna cause quite a delay

Btw, I have new pics

I just looked and don't see any glass on the base. Where do you see this?

I don't see any glass either, I think that person misspoke. Shouldn't be long before we see the lobby glass though.

It looks like they removed the fireproofing blanket today, maybe because of the wind?

Ok. But you said cladding which I think of as the glass or other material that is the exterior of the building. What we see in that picture is its supporting framework. Not the same thing, in my mind at least.

Anyways, hopfully glass will go up soon.
