I never used that word: pretentious.

How dare you, How dare you, hahahh... What a dumb ass response. Go away. You have some kind of hang up about NY, Raleigh Boy.

What the hell are you guys talking about? lol

How is referring to New Jersey as "Jersey" a lack of respect for that state? I'm sure a lot of people say "I'll be in the city tomorrow" or something like that, in reference to New York City or Manhattan specifically. WHO CARES?

Well, for New Jersey, newyorkers say "Jersey", but for New York they say "Nu'york"

I guess this is what happens when the picture flow is practically non-existent (which seems to be most of the time).

As we can see, 4 WTC has defeated One Liberty Plaza ( which is 226,5 m )
so I guess it's around 230 m now.

Hope that explains it
This is not my experience. I've lived in New York all my life, and currently live in Manhattan. Generally people say "New Jersey" when they mean the state of New Jersey. Some times they abbreviate it to just "Jersey" in very casual conversation. But I would guess that 75% of the time people say "New Jersey" and about 25% they simply say "Jersey".

If they are talking about Jersey City they always say "Jersey City", if they just said "Jersey" it would be confused with the state.

And as far as New York City goes in the metro area it is refered to as simply "New York". That is, "New York" means simply the city of New York, not the state. Also, sometimes people will just say "the city" meaning New York City. However, for those living in Manhattan "the city" just means Manhattan and does not include the outer boroughs. A bit of snobishness there

Generally, it is best to say the full and proper name of places even when visiting here. Locals do it themselves MOST of the time and it avoids confusion.

Actualy it's taller than that. The pic had in its description that it's new but now that I looked at it in more detail I think flickr was wrong and the pic's older. From what I know the current height is approximately 244 meters

Floor 53 is at El. 1,096'-8" or 794'-5"(~242.13m) above Greenwich Entrance. Adding +4' for the column splices, Tower 4 is 798'-5" (~243.35m) above lowest entrance.

people do take the little addition "supertall" far too serious though. the difference between 298m and 300m in terms of appearance and what it looks like in the skyline is non existent. i could care less about these two meters as long the building looks great
