They were just on the 69th floor. The office floors go to 71. Those columns are not for the mech floors.

There will be two more jumps of 27 ft columns to the top. The tower is ~922 ft high. 54-55 feet to go. Two easy jumps of 27 ft each to top out. June 8th and the 22nd should be the next two height jumps.
very well.

at any rate we are very close to topping out. like i said im curious to see the 'end-game' of the ascent, and no doubt 4WTC will once again come under greater scrutiny from the wider forum community.

It's called One World Trade Center, not Freedom tower. Tower 2 and Tower 2 will be on hold until Larry finds tenents. Tower 4 will top out around same time as 1WTC. My bets on 4WTC topping out first though.

By the time we get to 9/11/2012, both One and Four should be topped out.
Also, the cladding on four should be done as well.

take your hand and cover up the un-cladded part of 4 WTC in this picture. It's almost hard to see the building is there because the glass is almost mirror-perfect. Stunning.

Such a shame they didn't add another 2m to the height to give it supertall status

only skyscraper nerds would care, since it's a flat topped 977 foot building, it's basically a supertall

Well this is a skyscraper nerd forum

And most New Yorkers that I know would like their city to have as many supertalls as possible - just look above, people constantly listing the supertalls existing and planned in NYC

The blue netting proves that you were correct. The new columns are significantly shorter. No idea what that means (if anything) as far as floor heights. It will be very interesting to see how it all plays out.

Yeah, the columns on the north face are shorter (my bad), but Carlos has a picture showing some taller columns are up on the southern wall. So it's still up to level 71. And one even looks taller than the usual 27 feet.

I've updated my diagram with the latest progress

Roof height used below!

1WTC = 404 meters or 1324 feet out of 419 meters or 1374 feet
4WTC = Approximately 281 meters or 922 feet out of 298 meters or 977 feet
157 = 268 meters or 878 feet out of 306 meters or 1005 feet

(Note: I used the 419 meter figure for 1WTC when measured from the lowest above ground entrance and I used the 298 meter figure for 4WTC.)
