Will 4wtc be lit up similarly to the shard in London upon completion? I love te futuristic look it gives to London in an otherwise not too special skyline.

going by Miller Hare's renderings no. Going by Dbox's maybe. Looks like they might have LED lights or something on top of the section below where the setback begins.

archdaily

though there's really nothing futuristic about a light show. It's just eyecandy. New York's never really been about that kind of thing with the exception of a few towers like Citicorp and the ESB

Wikipedia is not a good source at all. This will be ready for occupancy in 2013, I think they've said Fall 2013. I do think this gets my vote as the best box skyscraper anywhere in the world, or at least the best box skyscraper I've ever seen in person.

i agree when i went their in july i was amazed at how beautiful this one looked, and with all the complains that this was boring compared to the others, i found it beautiful.

I like boxes, I think it makes it look more dominating and just plain massive.

Since the safety netting has come down, when should the cranes come down next?

There's a lot of heavy equipment to raise to the roof yet to come. I'm only guessing, but I'd imagine the crane that's set inside the tower will come out first to make room for mechanical equipment on the roof. Then the crane set on the outside will come down a little later. But I don't think both cranes will be gone for some months to come. Maybe by the end of the year. But that's just a guess.

Actually Wikipedia can be a great source. They cite all their sources, and references, and it's extremely difficult to edit things. At school we are taught to use Wikipedia as a source reference, but not a complete site for information. So it has it's advantages here and there

It doesn't look tall because the buildings next to it are 700'+.
