Yes it was a great show of the democratic process but I don't see where it shows anything about patriotism. Heck one of the candidates didn't even wear an American flag for the majority of his campaign! Face it patriotism is becoming a thing of the past and it will take another major event to wake Americans up again.
I really think everything is under control and will be okay. Patriotism runs very high in our country, we really don’t need another 9/11 to wake us up. (I have an America flag in front of my house, so do many of my neighbors! But I don't expect everyone to.)

Personally I think patriotism is best expressed through actions and not shallow symbolism. Anyone can throw up a flag but who's willing to stand up for what it means? For that matter what about the people willing to stand for what it means but don't believe in cheap theatrics?

Anyways this is heading off topic.

Back to topic, 4WTC is going to start looking mighty odd if 175 Greenwich doesn't start up soon. It's my understanding that most of the underground infrastructure is essentially useless without the neighboring developments to tie into.

Indeed. If you need a flag to be a patriot you will never really be one.

They are going to build all of the underground infrastructure, even if the other two towers don’t get built right now. Podiums would be put in their place, or just the bottom half of the building. The parts would still all connect to each other underground, and to the transit hub. There just wouldn't be the tower part.

And I'm glad that you agree with me that the site is going to look very awkward with only towers 1 and 4. They should have built Tower 2 first, before Tower 4. Then all the new towers would have at least been on one side of the site. Now there is going to be a huge gap, bookend by two giant skyscrapers. People are going to notice something is missing.

I think their's a good chance 2WTC will be built. So that would give the site a tower in three of the four corners. So symmetry-wise it should look fairly even.

That's what needs to happen. They MUST build Tower 2. And you’re right, it has a pretty good chance of happening. Mayor Bloomberg today suggested taking money from other non Port Authority projects. He's apparently looking at 2 billion dollars worth of money, that was set aside by the Federal Government after 9/11 for Moynihan Station, but has yet to be put in action. They could redirect the funds, but Chuck Schumer is already complaining...

Moynihan Station is probably a decade from groundbreaking anyways so this might make sense.

Almost above street level. So awesome!

Also nice to see all the steel and decking going up for the memorial. The last crane is gonna be out of room in another month.

Yeah, there seems to be a large re-configuring of the core on the final basement floor. I expect this one to take a little longer than the others did, but the building itself is still moving along quickly.
