This is one great looking building. That lobby and base...

But I feel they could have chosen something better for the tiles of the outdoor deck.

I actually like the outer deck tiles. I'm not sure why everyone is upset about them. The color of the tiles compliments the silver of the tower.

4 WTC opening 12th, 13th & 14th

"The Port Authority has been seeking a broker to sublease 150,000 square feet of its upcoming 600,000 square feet of new offices at 4 World Trade Center.

But it looks like the agency may try to give back the space to Larry Silverstein, who is developing the new 2,845,000-square-foot tower at 150 Greenwich St.

To mark the completion of the 72-story skyscraper, there will be an event with the Philharmonic Orchestra on the evening of Nov. 13 and opening ceremonies the following day."...
I had missed the NY Post article posted by spectre000. The NY Daily News states opening is the 12th & the NY Post states opening ceremonies on the 14th.

I think these various dates are close enough, and I hope Greenwich St & Cortlandt St are open for pedestrians around the tower by the weekend of November 16th.

The NY Post article also has more detail on which agency is leasing which floors.

In other WTC-features-opening-real-soon, the reporter states that the west end of the East/West connector (a fancy underground passageway) is opening later this week. Per the LMCCC nomenclature this structure is item 1280 in the earlier diagram. I assume this means that next week commuters will be able to walk underground from the World Financial Center complex west of West St to the PATH Station.

Still no indication when the IRT Cortlandt St Subway station is opening, though the 4 WTC wikipedia entry claims the lower retail levels "also provide access to an underground "retail and transportation concourse" which will be connected to the PATH terminal at the site.[6]".

You'd be so high up, you wouldn't see much light when dining.

Notice the partially built section of Greenwich Street.

I hope some retailers will start moving into the base once it opens. Hopefully there will be some news regarding that. I know Westfield has been signing retailers for the Hub space. But I wonder if any will be going into 4WTC.

Hopefully they'll not use big flashy logos if they move in, as to not disturb the minimalist elegance of this tower.

Westfield will be managing the whole retail complex, not just the hub. First section to open will be the East/West Connector as early as late 2014.

Thanks.
Any idea when the photo was taken?

Is the rendering supposed to be looking east on Cortlandt St from Greenwich (minus the anti-truck bomb bollards, of course)?

That's looking west from Church, with 4 on the left and 3 on the right. I really wonder what sort of retail will go in these towers.

OK, thx. That makes sense; it's a WFC bldg in BPC in the distance.

I had trouble reconciling the photo with the current 4 WTC reality of a bldg with a finished exterior. Until I realized that I was looking at the reflection of 3 WTC in the upper portion of 4 WTC.

Good to hear that the construction elevators are coming down.

Thank you: I hadn't noticed the number sequence before. I hope the weather is good.

This wikimapia diagram below (original source unknown to me) shows a "connection to subway" in the E side of 4WTC/retail podium.

I assume the subway station would be the BMT Cortlandt St station which is open, unlike the IRT Cortlandt St station.

Anybody know if this assumed in building subway entrance will open when the building opens?

I assume the entrance would be someplace in the lit area of this 4 WTC render (date unknown) from the 4wtc.com site today:
image hosted on flickr

Exterior render from 4WTC.COm today. View looking WNW from the SE corner of Trinity Pl/Church St & Liberty St. NW corner of Zucotti Park in other words. The closest entrance to the BMT Cortlandt St station is on the east side of Church and a couple of block north: the circled R & W in the diagram above.
