The 4WTC web site has numerous photos & renderings of the tower exterior in the Exterior Images gallery:

Thanks. I had forgotten to check to see if there was EXIF info in the JPG.

The illusion that 4 WTC is truncated and has a concrete wall maze on top is QUITE strong:

Just for the heck of it, this is one of the 4WTC.com renders of what the Greenwich St side of 4WTC (view from east side of the memorial) might look like in a couple of weeks.
MINUS the taxis, guy hailing a taxi & the town car:

With this 4wtc.com render on the other side of 4WTC/150 Greenwich St lobby glass. Looking north, with the WTC stump seen through the far end Cortlandt St facing glass:

Come on down and check it, the WTC complex and surrounding lower Manhattan out. Lots of old, new and in-between to check out. The underground west concourse of the WTC complex is now open & that is VERY fancy

Portland is a river city: so is this area of NYC except you have a much larger harbor, lots more tall buildings.

And a longer known history of European habitation: the 400th anniversary of the Tyger's crew overwinter in lower Manhattan is coming up:

Quote:
"In November, an accidental fire broke out and Tyger rapidly burned to the waterline. The charred hull was beached and all but the small section of prow and keel salvaged in 1916 (q.v.) remained in that location, buried beneath what later became the intersection of Greenwich and Dey Streets in Lower Manhattan."
- Wikipedia

The intersection of Greenwich & Dey is just to right of the earthcam snip below. Dey would be between the 3 WTC stump & the Oculus. Greenwich is mostly hidden by 4 & 3 WTC, but a triangle of Greenwich is visible between them. The remains of the Tyger were rediscovered in 1916 when the IRT 7th Avenue line was built via cut & cover underneath Greenwich St through this area, which used to be Hudson River shoreline.

The fall colors at the 9/11 memorial and surrounding areas should be more vibrant in a couple of weeks, but the memorial trees are starting to turn already:

Lots of history at the site

There's a lot of history in the area if you have an interest in the European settlement of North America and the creation of the USA (George Washington & that kind of stuff).

And Wall St & the more recent Occupy Wall Street @ Zuccotti Park, etc..

And the great railroad terminals (with ferries) across the Hudson in Jersey City & Hoboken, etc.

And you can go back 20,000 yearsto the glaciers that carved the bedrock under the new 4WTC. They had to go down to the bedrock when they built this tall tower as a replacement for the original nine story 4 WTC:

Quote:
“It’s been called the Grand Canyon of Lower Manhattan,”
Some areas were 110 ft below street level. Contrast the ~5 year old "Grand Canyon" photo below to what now stands at this site. Photo is looking north, sliver of IRT subway tunnel box (Greenwich Street yet to be rebuilt on top) is visible at left

Will they really finish in one week? Seems like there's still a lot left to do.

Yeah! I spent a lot of time trying to reconcile the apparent state of 4 WTC with reality.

They have less than two weeks to remove the barriers around 4 WTC & the construction elevators.

Maybe somebody(s) will provide progress photos as the days tick down to 11/12/13. I'm planning on checking it out, weather permitting.

The second elevator is more than halfway down.

I wonder how much out of this tower is rented? I ask this because if it is 80% filled up, then there is a good chance that the construction on the remaining #3 and #2 will restart soon.
