Very good question.
The LMCCC web site states:

Quote:
*The following information was last updated on November 6, 2013.

Final interior fit-out through early 2014
Utility work is active along Liberty Street (inside the work site fence line)
Sidewalk and curb completion
AFAIK, the museum's entrance is on the west side of the reconstructed Greenwich St & AFAIK that is opening in the spring. So I imagine that some of the Greenwich Street/construction barrier changes might take that into account.

Remember they also have to prep for the 11/12 concert!
CORRECTION/UPDATE: Concert 11/13 @ the southern end (Liberty St) of the reconstructed Greenwich St:

And from yesterday's Chicago Tribune an additional tidbit regarding tenants moving in:

Quote:
Only half of the tower's 2.4 million square feet of office space is pre-leased, and one of the tenants, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, is already trying to sublease some of its space. That makes next week's ceremonies, which will include Tuesday's performance by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and a Wednesday opening, seem more like marketing hoopla than a bona fide opening. Indeed, 4 World Trade Center is, for now, a shell. Tenants will start moving in next year.

Open, yet with a full height 10 meter zipper where the external elevator was? That's kinda weird

It's a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy:

Quote:
Temporary certificate of occupancies are generally sought after and acquired when a building is still under minor construction, but there is a certain section or number of floors that are deemed to be habitable, and, upon issuance of TCO, can legally be occupied or sold.
-wikipedia

And the ?Chicago Tribune? states that tenants will start moving in next year.

Hopefully the weather will be good: maybe I'll attend the ribbon cutting 11/13 11AM. Wonder if Bloomberg will attend in his final days....

You can see if that SW corner of the building really looks (and how much of the construction fencing has been removed) like this 11-4 rendering from wtc.com:

image hosted on flickr

Source is here which contains various renderings & animations. The Greenwich St animation shows vehicular through traffic on Greenwich St, something that will not happen for quite a while:

it's more for protection from general traffic than anything else, if you haven't noticed, there isn't much of a curb which separates the street from the sidewalk.

And really, any self-respecting terrorist that tries to use a Smart Car in an attack should just give up and kill themselves right away. Nobody has or ever will be terrorized by a Smart Car, even an exploding one.

Let's hope that something like 9/11 never happens again.

Thanks for posting the photo.

The photo was taken almost three weeks ago: maybe somebody will provide a latest & greatest photo today...

WOW! Current fairly mild weather is supposed to go downhill on the ceremonial opening: daytime high only in the very low 40s & possible snow Wednesday night.

4 days until opening day. Although I was really hoping that they would at least install some glass panels on the top of where the elevator was to show progress. Oh well. But still so much has to be done! Sadly I can't attend the ribbon cutting for business reasons. But I can always look at pictures on this site. I hope I don't forget about November 13 (because originally thought it was November 12th)
