No i wasn't inside the lobby, these are taken from outside. I asked a pair of cops who were standing around if it was okay to take photos from outside, they said it was.

Yeah, sorry. I meant to say outside the building.

The lobby lighting is well done.

Just a quick question, when will the title of this thread change to Completed now that the building has opened? Will it be when the cladding for where the elevator was will be fully installed?

The elevator is still out there on the lower floors (see NYCD's pics). Before the gap is not completely filled with cladding, it cannot be considered as completed in my opinion. This official opening date has no real meaning (at least to me) except that the fences have come down (or moved), the tenants just start fitting out their floors and won't move in for some more months.

Yup, I agree with you on that one. The building should have had its openning when all cladding would be finished

I know it´s too early for such details yet. But i hope they are going to add some neat and modern benches and planters along greenery and flowers etc. on the pedestrian areas along sculptures and stuff that makes the streets look vital. :-)

The elevator stops at the floors that are leased by the tenants, so it probably won't go down until they finish putting all the furniture in the offices, I just notice that.

I need a clarification: is the building (at least its plaza) open now to the general public or do you need some sort of official credentials to have access?

It would seem you're only able to walk about the outside of the building. That's it.

Well at least you can walk right up to the building, then; it's no longer behind a construction barricade?

Yes. I believe they pushed back the barricade/fences toward 3 WTC.

Ceremonial opening for outgoing Mayor Bloomberg

One of the reasons they might have had the ceremonial opening this year is so that Mayor Bloomberg could attend as the mayor.

This is definitely the reason he will take a ceremonial ride on the #7 subway extension "soon" (6 weeks left) even though the single new station does not open for revenue service till at least June 2014.
