first of all, this is 4wtc, and it will only be 297 meters. second 1wtc will be 1776 feet, not meters. Jeez, get your facts right!

i'm also wondering why the design has all those strong beams in it....

I know what height 4WTC is planned to be, I know also that 1WTC will be 1776 feet when finished. My guess is that you have no sence of humour?????? 1776 meters? OMG!
And can you for sure say that they haven`t changed their plans about the height? 1776 meters was to wild to be true but you did`n`t see that? We can at least hope for an increase in height when it`s done, because of the strength they put into this building.

Taking so long because it was/is filled with nasty stuff from the collapse of 1 and 2 tower (mainly 2). Being dismantled because a large chunk of the structure was smashed away by the collapse of 2 wtc (south tower). The damage wouldnt have been so bad if it had just been the chunk, but stresses were put on the structure beyond its design limits, causing cracking and tension fatigue and torsion damage warping floors and columns near to the damage making it not viable to repair the more visible damage.

Damage:

Before 9/11:

It was actually one of the more modern boxes in nyc, too bad it had to go.

Edit: It should be noted that the broken windows were made out of glass so strong you could support only the corners and stand several people on it without worry, says something bout the forces involved.

In post #1086, just before this one......I see the memorials taking shape....I know they are the footprints of the original towers. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have chamfered corners like the towers had......but see in this pic that just outside the square openings a frame with the angled corners ? ........maybe ? I know architecture may go for a pure design but a true footprint would hold more meaning for me.......

I never really thought of that. I kind of understand where you are coming from now come to think of it. But, regardless, I'm still very happy and approve the current design.

Is this tower going to be connected underground to the rest of the complex and the transit hub? Sorta like the that passage in front of 1wtc?

http://rebuildgroundzero.org/webcam/rgz_000.jpg is back, unfortunately wrong positioned, hopefully somebody will adjust it since it is the only cam available to watch tower 4 growing. Right now you can see a little bit of tower 4 in the right corner at the bottom..

I am loving the waterfalls more and more seeing them being constructed - they are enormous!
