New vertical steel is visible today. That takes this up to the 15th floor now. Should be just over 250 feet high now I think.

That's just the lobby area, which uses clear, uncoated glass. The tower portion will have glass similar to 7WTC in color, but less transparent and more reflective from the outside. 1, 2, 3 & 7 will have almost identical glass and glazing.

Those are temporary. They're removed as the perimeter columns are encased in concrete. They've already removed several floors worth of trusses on the west face of the building.

I wouldn't say it's boring, but it's design is awfully similar to the New York Times Tower. I'm just glad to see it rising

HUH? I suppose he was talking about WTC4, and it doesn't look anything like the NYTT. Are you refering to WTC3?

You say boring, I say simple, minimalist, and most importantly, respectful to it's surrounding.
The architects made just an elegant, simple building to supply the space needed for the area that pays it's respect to the twins, without trying to be a substitute.

afaik Maki designed this building so simple on purpose, to act as a bridge between the already existing skyline and the three bigger towers going up on the site. And IMO he has done a great job.

If it was mint to stand out, it would have been taller. Like tower 7 it's a background tower to the rest of WTC.
