New vertical steel went up today. That's floors 26 and 27 now.

This cladding situation seems to be very strange. When I was at the site this weekend it was only on the west and south sides of the building - not the north or east sides.

Anyone know why they would be building up the cladding on some sides and not others?

The lower north and east sides contain the podium levels. They are probably just skipping those areas for now and concentrating on the office level sections.

You have to remember that the entire WTC site is surrounded by buildings that are NOT clad in reflective glass. As a result, 1 WTC and 4 WTC will actually stand because of their size and originality.

sure....that's why tower 3 needs to happen so bad; those structural steel trusses would provide some balance

Probably the same story as 1WTC; they're placeholders whose only purpose is to aid in the proper spacing of the above rows. They'll be filled eventually.
