Wait, wait, wait.... Why is this on hold? Did the work inside the podium stop?

I think the definition of "On Hold" needs to be clarified.

On Hold should mean for a site that is all but abandoned and absolutely no work underway, ie. Pentominium, 2WTC, Waterview (during it's construction hiatus).

This tower is still very much what I would consider "Under Construction". It just had a major cement pour just a week or so ago. Fireproofing is underway. We could even see the curtain wall installed on the podium later this year.

This is weak.

This is NOT on hold. they are constructing for atleast several more months...

"Brathwaite also noted that construction at 3 WTC will continue for at least several more months, and WTC leaseholder Silverstein Properties is still working to procure an anchor tenant that will allow its full 71-story build out. Plans for "Site 5," at Greenwich and Albany, remain on hold."

I agree with you folks, this is not on hold yet. The thread shouldn't be in this section

Since work on the structure has halted for quite a while, I would agree with calling this on hold.

If you want to find a tower that deserves being called On Hold, look at the Pentominium, or 2 World Trade Center. This one is U/C.

What's the big difference? The same things are happening with the building, whether it's under construction or on hold! We all know that it's not on any higher until major tenants are found, that's a fact. There is no need to debate what the status of the building is, the same things are going to be happening no matter what the status is.

Do you not understand what under construction means? Just because construction is going to be halted in the future doesnt mean that current construction is not occurring. Your statement made absolutely no sense and showed a complete disregard for order in this forum.

I also remember the 4th and 5th mechanical floors are providing some of the infrastructure support for the entire WTC site. So expect a lot of work for some time. The podium is not just going to be an empty hulk of steel and concrete. Critical machinery is going to be built inside of it.

Silverstein is willing to give someone a VERY good deal in order to construct this tower. I'd be shocked if Larry doesn't secure at least a 500k sf lease this year. As with Related's project, no company will walk away from a gift.

Correct, generators and electrical panels are located at one of those floors.

Falcon is currently welding column connections, beam to column connections, there's also clip welding on spandrels for curtain wall, erection of elevator frames inside the core, rail and fencing installation is occuring on some subgrade stairs
