No, the tower is most likely not climbing. If the mobile crane was erecting a tower crane I'd take it as a good sign, but it looks like they are closing it in until they get enough tenants to continue. We'll still have many months of interior work and cladding. BTW, no two official renders are of the same model. I mean literally none. Even renders that look like they are just set at different distances show different lobby materials and exterior cladding. That fact made modeling the interior a crap shoot. I ended up going with the render of the suspended walkways and escalators because it is the most detailed.

A couple months ago, I read that Amazon wants to open its new office in New York City in the nearby future. They wanted to lease around 500,000 sq. ft. office spaces somewhere in NYC but they also looked at WTC 2 and 3 for potential New York office. I haven't hear anything about that after that. I hope they consider either WTC 2 or 3 so they can start construction on either towers.

Last I heard they're developing several million square feet of offices in downtown Seattle as the company HQ.

Doubt it since they had Frank Gehry design a new complex for their headquarters in California.

I took a few photos yesterday, including a closer look at the cladding.

doesn't really resemble the cladding for these floors in the renderings, which had horizontal bands of steel like 1 WTC's base. It's probably just venting material that will be behind this, i'm no expert though

Correct. Amazon also want to have its office in New York City as well.

That's a bad rendering. Look at the Hub and 2WTC's facade in the background. I ran into a lot of sketchy renders trying to model the exterior of the stub. I'll just change it to match the actual thing as it goes along.

they better get crackin building this. Walking out of the new WTC path station and being surrounded by stubs of unbuilt buildings is just going to be embarrassing. Also, I just really like the design

That's not how things work....

When a tenant signs a lease i'm sure we'll all hear about. Until then, please stop bumping the thread with non-sense.

You're right. But it was an economic disaster. The vacant space drove down office rents for the entire city. It took over a decade for the market to recover. That's not something commercial landlords want to experience again.
