I passed by this tower Sunday for the first time. I was rather uninterested. The base is rather industrial looking, not exactly very pleasant on the eye. Nothing compared to the previous renders.

By reading all your recent posts, it seems like you had a pretty shitty weekend in NYC. I feel terrible for you, if you live in NYC. Couldn't find one tower, that is U/C or recently topped out that you like, huh?

You should come to Albany, home of some of the world's finest surface parking lots and water towers.

But seriously, what were the things you liked and didn't like about the tower from what you saw?

I'm not a fan of the base, it is rather industrial looking and a little plain. I preferred the previous design that had some more intricate detail added.

I like the industrial look. It's part of Rogers' signature in his designs.

I gotcha. I'm a fan of the industrial style, but I too preferred the previous.

Did you see any activity on site?

By the way, good to see you're back man.

That sounds great. I'd really like to see a WTC tower rise again, now that towers 1 and 4 are structuraly finished

Yup, there are many good years to come for us skyscraper fanatics. One thing that I'm looking most forward to are cams installed on 1WTC or 4WTC. Such a view from above was mostly impossible during their own construction

I'm just bummed they didn't aim to build 2 before 3,,, I think 2 has the best design of all the bunch,,but then again I also liked 5 which ppl said looked like a giant urinal...I did think 3 was right up there with 2,, but when they decide to lop off 100plus feet and scrapped the cross basing,, I think it lost a GREAT beauty(however i do like the idea of a spire on each corner),, Don't get me wrong, it's much better than not, having another 1000ft plus tower on the WTC site,,just rather "industrial" looking as others have commented.
