I find it ironic that you say this considering this building has not only 1 spire, but 4.

Speaking of Mr. Roof Height Crusader...

Has anyone heard about this Organization? It’s the first time for me. Obviously they are not known to the architectural and developer world but I guess they are trying to make a play against CTBUH all depending how people view and determine roof height.

They have a different formula that claim to have accurately measure heights of towers that differ from CTBUH. Check out their rankings. This should make Mr. Kanto happy!

Thanks for posting, this is really interesting stuff for me. I am very glad to see another crusade to reform CTBUH height measurements, although I don't agree with them counting some spires. In my opinion a spire should never count to a building's height. But, it is a beginning and it's awesome to see that my crusade isn't alone in the universe

The Buildingheights.org list has Petronas Towers taller than Willis tower, therefore their list sucks.

Can't wait for this thing to rise (whenever that eventually happens). the cladding so far looks amazing!

Those vertical lines remind me of the twin towers.

There has been talk that it could open in 2016 but that is only if vertical construction resumes early next year.

One World Trade Center is suddenly the 12th tallest building in the world now. I thought that decision wasn't made yet. If I had a skyscraper website, I would assume that it's "safer" (because of lack of a better word) to list it as the third tallest building in the world if they HAVE to list topped out buildings in the list. Just my opinion, everyone has their own.

And I always thought that 3 World Trade Center's official height was measured to its roof. I never knew the "antennas" were actually spires because if the spires were more than (roughly) 200 feet, 4 World Trade Center's roof height would be taller than 3 World Trade Center's.

What about the retail podium? Should we expect any of that be open during vertical construction?

I don't think it would be very safe to go shopping in a construction zone.

Yeah, when Conde Nast was under construction, a cladding panel fell from the construction zone and decapitated an old lady. Walking under these areas is definitely not safe.

Buildings in Toronto have opened the retail when the tower is still under construction.. right now there is a building with a marshalls, bed bath & beyond, Gym, 2 banks, 2 restaurants, a mini-mall, and a food court open and the building isn't even topped out.

That steel was placed at the beginning of August, to allow the crane to jump so floor underneath it could be completed. The tower will not resume construction until next year.

The oculus or transportation hub, serves as the main entrance to the PATH station, also serves as the main entrance to the underground Westfield retail mall.
