That initally surprised me as well, but later on it seemed to work. Anyway, it seems your doubt are justified.

Silverstein has made plenty of money from construction fees already for 1 WTC. He should forego shekels and lease at cost like Related. That would probably help him get BNY. If not, 2 and 3 WTC won't rise for years.
Larry is leasing these buildings at cost. The PA and city of NY aren't paying top rents at 4WTC, there around $55-60. Likewise for Group M, also paying about $60. Durst and the PA are also offering pretty low rents at 1WTC too.

I wouldn't doubt he'll offer a sweetheart lease for an anchor at 2WTC. He's merely looking to get these buildings started just like Related did at HY. Remember he doesn't have the luxury that Related has of thousands of apartments to make his "shekels" as you like to say. He's got one residential tower a block away to make some money on. That's it.

As far all the fees he's collected around the WTC, considering all the headaches he's endured, he's earned every cent. I have little doubt if he'd been the sole person in charge, the WTC would've been rebuilt years ago.

What??

(slurred speech) That sux and I'm totally bummed.

I'm really interested with what BNY will do. I just hope they won't jump ship to Jersey. that is for sure. Maybe they go to 3WTC? I certainly hope so and it's clear they have ther hearts set for somewhere in lower manhattan.

I'm also wondering if this has something to do with the PA. Their organization had been in disarray with their execs leaving in droves and that latest scandal with the bridge certainly doesn't help.

here's hoping Silverstein gets that refi for the easy rout and resume vertical construction the soonest.

This is so disappointing. Following this building is like being on an emotional roller coaster

I have no doubts Silverstein will get this going soon...he's very set on getting this up especially that he has an anchor temant, he doesn't want to lose that. How terrible would it look if Group M backed out because the Tower got stuck again, would look terrible on him. Just another typical bump in the road at the World Trade Center, he will get it done.

Just goes to show what an absolute mess the PA and the council have made if the WTC. They should of just rebuilt the twins along with a new site designed in connection with the 911 families. Would of been a much quicker process.

The magazine company, which Time Warner plans to spin off this year, could leave its long-time midtown location to take advantage of lower rents in the area of the new World Trade Center complex.

Hope they consider 3WTC

Whose to say TW wants to be at the WTC. Maybe he did offer them a "at cost" deal? Do you know for fact he did or didn't?

And can you stop with using the word "shekel"? Making sly remarks constantly re: his heritage is frankly offensive.

Sir Robert Walpole couldn't possibly be an anti Semite. Sir Robert Walpole loves Bloomberg.

Maybe the Federal Government should take over these buildings and build them using Federal Dollars.

The pace of construction has been pathetic.

Its been nearly 13 years since 9/11, and there is no end in sight for the construction.

Europe was rebuild faster after World War II than this site.

The Federal Government should have funded the WTC from the start since it was their fault they couldn't prevent the 9/11 attacks. Hell, even the Port Authority has more than enough money to fund both Towers 2 & 3 since they collect money every single day from their bridges and tunnels. I know they want to build the Towers as they get leased but they should for once think of restoring the WTC and get the thing finished. You think Silverstein would have the money himself but he doesn't. Honestly, what the hell good is he? I'm glad he got Towers 4 & 7 up but it's a disgrace to America and to the victims that all the Towers aren't finished. I often look back to 2008 when Silverstein himself said the Towers would be done by 2012. What a hoot

If these towers had a residential aspect to them they would have risen by now. Isn't the park place tower a Silverstein project?

Yeap.

At its current pace, construction won't end here until 2021 or 2022.

Looks amazing. With or without the Twin Towers then New York's skyline is iconic. One of my favorite cities.

What was/were the exact reason (s) for not rebuilding the Twin Towers or something similar in size or even bigger?
