You guys certainly get awfully excited about a couple of small places where somebody with a snow shovel has been!

Honestly it just looks like someone cleared a path for workers to get around easier instead of walking through the snow.

Honestly, it looks like they're prepping the beams for more vertical construction. Why else would they shovel a path to each beam?

Routine maintenance, possible checking out the steel after the harsh weather we've had.

You can all flip your shit once a new crane arrive.

I agree. I don't see anything that hints to an iminent restart of construction.

The building is unfinished. Therefore it is already in a state of imminent construction. The financial realities of finishing this structure are so random and abstruse that nobody knows when this thing will get going. Which means it could get going at any time.

The very instant the thing is ready to go, they will want to start building. That gap between the structure being OK to proceed and it actually proceeding is dead time, just money down the drain.

The developers of this project will have plans in place for construction to start immediately as soon as the green light is given from top brass.

That means the site will be maintained and kept in a permanent state of readiness. A tenant might call them up this very afternoon and say 'we'll rent X amount of floors if you can have it finished by X'.

This isn't somebody's pet project in their backyard. It's not a treehouse for some kids. Every day the stump sits there, unfinished, is costing someone somewhere a disgusting amount of money.

Yes this shows that they are at least making sure it is ready to go when it needs to be. Especially because we might get more snow next week. Does anybody know if they have cleared snow off like this earlier in the winter?

pretty sure they're just clearing the snow so that it doesn't melt and act as a pool on bare concrete and steel; keeping it all in good condition for the future... I hope i'm wrong

A lot of that orange safety netting does seem to be pretty new. Could that mean prep work for resuming construction?

I just know that the day vertical construction resumes, there will be mass rejoicing and celebration in this thread. (If that snow clearing is any indication.)

Just getting the melting snow to run to temporary drains

They installed temporary drains. The paths are to the drains to keep them open and get the water to run that way. I think they want the minimum amount of water to drain along the windows.
Basically it is a total mess. This is trying to preserve what you have not new construction.

I can't believe there are so many members on this site and not a single person has any insider information as to the status of this building and instead everyone is speculating if construction is beginning based on a picture.

We need to develop some contacts.

He may have a friend that buys socks for Silverstein. But you can't be that naive to believe the building will be built underground.

He wan't serious. Not one bit.

He was making an incisive comment on the way people around these forums will call just about anything a reliable source for skyscraper information. Not to mention ribbing Larry (albeit a little unfairly) for the fear-engineering of the WTC site.
