It will. Construction should resume soon once Larry finishes all the formalities. He does have an anchor tenant, so he should receive the government funding for the building any time soon now

It's technically under construction because they're doing inside construction and installing facade, although no vertical construction is being done for now.

no, there are still pieces of the facade to be installed. They've been sitting on the roof, though it might've been something else that looks like the cladding.

So fingers crossed for that loan. Otherwise it may go on hold later this year.

I think this loan will get through and the building won't ever go on hold. I think Larry would have to pay huge compensation money to GroupM if the building's completition would be delayed too much, so I'm confident that all that remains are formalities and the positive fate of this building was sealed when GroupM signed the deal to become an anchor tenant

Im still dying to know what they are doing right now with the scaffolding.

Hopefully just preparations, and not what they did to 2 WTC.

I haven't checked the 3WTC thread in over a year. I'm glad to see all the progress. It seems like we are at the stage now where it would rise really fast assuming it had no funding/tenant problems, so when vertical construction starts up again it should go fast.

I don't believe that it would ever be torn down, there is retail space that could still be used. Also tearing down a building at the World Trade Center, would probably stir up a lot of commotion. They are most likely prepping for construction, as they do not look like they are in any hurry.

I like the slight outwards curves at the end of the diagonal bars. Makes it look way more industrial!

They will halt all progress on the tower until there is a decision made about financing from the PA, which takes place this month.

The bars are actually straight and flat, the lens of the camera just distorts them to make them look like they are curved.

Sweet! 3 WTC will be such a bad ass!

If the WTC towers were all superhero's, their attributes would be the following:

1 WTC - Strength
2 WTC - Beauty (hey.. beauty is power as I can attest)
3 WTC - Bad Ass
4 WTC - The Chameleon

On a side note...

Am I wrong to think this tower will resume vertical construction regardless of the outcome of that PA meeting??

I mean reports have mentioned that Silverstein is asking for a refi/ new deal because he sees it as unfavorable. Unfavorable does not mean undoable the last time I checked and it just means Silverstein may have to put a little more out of pocket, get a little creative or take a more traditional rout to secure extra financing to go along with the present deal with the PA. I dunno.

If Silverstein Properties ultimately decides to hold off vertical construction, I foresee a lawsuit from GroupM as a lease has been signed with a promise delivery date.

GroupM has spent a great time and effort the last 2 years, searching for a new home and securing a deal. Time is money and time will be lost if everything comes to a complete halt for GroupM = Damages.

Right now, obviously its a high stakes poker game being played between both parties, which is understandably. Silverstein is bluffing for a better deal as well as the PA and at the same time keep tenant competition less competitive for 1 WTC.

Therefore imo, this tower is going up and it will just be a question of who will end up on top??

GroupM may be able to back out. We don't know what the terms are. Silverstein would want to avoid a lawsuit, but if they think they stand to lose more money building a mostly-empty building than they would from reneging on their GroupM deal, they might suck it up and deal with it in (or out of) court. I think of it like that Fight Club quote about recalls.

That said, they're really going to shoot themselves in the foot if they let the WTC stay a noisy, messy, inaccessible construction site. That will not attract tenants. Catch-22, really: can't attract tenants until the construction gets done; can't finish construction until they have tenants.

Unfortunately, Silverstein has at least a partial solution readily available: take out the fences around the 3 WTC base and start up the retail component without building the tower. There'd still be 2 WTC, but fully opening up the around around 3 and 4 would be much more appealing to prospective tenants in 4 and 1.

I'm crossing my fingers that Silverstein just has an existential legacy crisis and breaks the bank to get these things built. Barring that, it's easy to see this cycle carrying on for a long time.
