I am about to officially give up all hope for the WTC site.

I see some Mod finally moved this to the Proposed section and changed title to 'On Hold'...

Another economical design change?? That is incredibly upsetting and unfortunate.

Good. I hope Larry will refuse any more changes.

Unfortuantly, the only "major" tenant is GroupM, which is occupying roughly 550,000 square feet at the podium floors. If the PA doesn't make a decison for this tower by July, they will back out. There has been no other news for tenants.

Watching a New York supertall rise is a lot like watching grass grow

Union groups and the city council are protesting against the Port Authority.

Thank heavens the unions are on board too. If we lose GroupM, say goodbye to another decade. If the PA vote is negative, we've no other choice but to strongly urge Larry Silverstein to spend whatever it takes to erect it, even if it breaks his bank. I cannot sit idly by and watch this tenant deal fall through after so much time and effort has been invested in it, and I hope that the rest of you feel the same way.

If what Otie says is true, then just remember this being said 4 years ago in the 1 WTC thread.

They're either removing the spires(still lowering the height), or just cheapening the material used at the top of the building.

Either way, it's all just talk.

I can't imagine removing the spires will be a significant cost saving.

Let's hope it stays that way. I think the tower's current design is perfect the way it is.

In the "proposed" section? And more design changes? Whatever they do to the building, it CANNOT be shorter than 4 WTC. That's like making 2 WTC have a flat roof. And also, I'd prefer that the spires are kept. No, not prefer, but have a strong hope.

I guess we're not going to see any more of this design:

I know. But when there was "talk" that One World Trade Center's randome would be scrapped, didn't that happen? It's best to assume that the builders would do something to disappoint us so that if they don't, we would be more grateful, and if they did do something, we wouldn't be THAT disappointed.

They are only talking about the top as Otie said, not the rest of the tower though. The integrity of the design will stay.

Your all making it more then it needs to be, they can talk all they want, doesn't mean its going to happen.

Well I was never agreeing, I absolutely find it annoying when people jump to conclusions.

Let's just wait to see what occurs with the scaffolding.
