Do they mean 80 floors plus the 4 100-foot spires; if so, it's still taller than the ESB. I think that's what they must mean. The very first day they released the design of 3WTC, it was taller than the ESB by 5 feet because of its 4 spires put the total height to, if I recall correctly, 1,255 feet. So does it mean that now the total height is 1,270 ft or what?

That seems to be the case, buddy. The info is coming from WTC.com so I doubt it could be any more credible that it already is.

It will be shorter than Empire State Building in any case..

Edit: Looks like it's actually 1,170 feet to the roof and 2,240 feet to the top of spires..
But even in that case, it's still shorter of Empire State building which is 2,250 to the roof..

If it is 1,170 feet in total, then it is 1,070 feet without the spires... I highly doubt that this is the case.

Compare it to others... there is no way the roof is 1,070. ft tall

I still think it will be taller than the Empire State Building. (More than 1,250 feet tall)
It was taller than the ESB from day one. (as suggested by this thread's title)

Keep in mind that silverstein props said the spires would be 100 feet tall since day 1.

Fail... since day one, it was 1,255 feet tall. ESB is 1,250. Can it be any more simple?
Even in the pic, it looks exactly the same height as ESB, which makes sense.

"The 80-story tower will rise 1,170"
Height to roof is roughly 1,148 in the diagram
So if the 80 story height includes the spires, the spires would be roughly 22 feet tall.
therefore the 80 story height can't include the spires
silverstein props: spires are 100 feet tall
1,170 plus 100 = 1,270 feet
1,270 feet is taller than ESB

However, if the spire height deviated from 100', i could be wrong, but i dunno why they would do that, even if they did, it would be nearly the same height as the ESB... you wouldn't be able to see a height difference with eyes, even if taller or shorter

In any case, both heights would be really close..So difference won't be visible anyway...
All those numbers and infos are actually one big mess...I think we should wait and see what will be...

Well, unless we know people who have actual BLUEPRINTS (like how Zen has 1WTC prints) I guess we can't be 100% sure about anything. We just have to wait now.

No, it's 1,240 in the diagram. I'd know since I made the 3D model and then used that to make the diagram. In fact, I'm pretty sure I'm the one that came up with 1,255 in the first place, as I needed to model the spires in 2006 and I guessed that they'd be 100 feet higher than the roof. It was never an official number as far as I know.

Also, there are no viruses on SSP. You probably have the security set too high and it's being set off by harmless things like a tracking cookie. Or you have a crappy virus program. Either/or, doesn't matter. SSP is clean.

You came up with the 1,255 thing? I could have swarm that when the towers were first announced, 3WTC was said to be 1,255 ft.

Is the reason why it's slightly taller because of the way CTBUH measures buildings was changed or because of changes in the design?

SEPTEMBER 2006 ARCHITECTURAL FACT SHEET:
"175 Greenwich Street, a 71-story tower, is the third tallest building on the World Trade Center site. It will rise to 1,155 ft above street level." Obviously they mean 1,155 to the roof.
The spires will be 100 feet - it's been said by multiple news sources.
As you can see, the 1,255 ft you thought of was exactly on target. Now it seems like 1,270 ft. is where it's at, but we will have to wait for blueprints to be 100% sure.

Also, I remember one time a person argued against me, saying they aren't spires, and instead saying that they are antenna and as such shouldn't be counted as part of the building's height, but they are clearly part of the tower's structural frame so they will be counted as part of the tower's final height; also, there's no plans for comm systems in tower 3. The same is true for tower 2.

1,255 was a complete guess on my part, before there was any information on the spires. If that was correct, then it was lucky. I also guessed 808 meters for the then Burj Dubai. 1270 might be a change in measurement only, since the site slopes 12-15 feet from west to east. However, I'm betting they were always measuring from the office entrance on Greenwhich street, and not any of the retail entrances on Church St..

I haven't changed the 3WTC model. I'm waiting for more info to come out.
